Casa Angelina

A luxe cliffside escape on the Amalfi Coast
VERIFIED LUXURY

Carved in the cliffs in the charming Italian village of Praiano, Casa Angelina offers a luxury boutique retreat. The property is a respite from the bustling towns nearby, affording breathtaking views of Positano and Capri’s Faraglioni rock formations.

The minimalistic design allows the panoramic scenery of the Mediterranean to take center stage. Plush white-on-white aesthetics provide a stunning contrast to the surrounding cobalt-blue sea and vibrant contemporary art displayed throughout the hotel.

Large windows, terraces and even a glass elevator offer gorgeous vistas at every turn. The 39 guest rooms exude modern minimalism and continue an effortless balance of contemporary architecture and stunning visions of the lush Italian coast.

You do not have to leave the property to enjoy a taste of fresh Italian cuisine, relax on a serene pool deck or experience a lively beach club — you’ll find it all here. But if you do feel compelled to explore the storied surrounding area, Casa Angelina is ideally situated for an afternoon excursion.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Relax poolside shaded by a canopy of lemon trees with a view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, or soak in the indoor hydrotherapy pool.
  • Casa Angelina takes breakfast with a view to the next level with seating along the sea-facing terrace. The extensive morning buffet — fresh fruit, cured meats, Italian delicacies and a plethora of pastries — will fuel your daily adventures.
  • For the ultimate escape, book an Eaudesea Experience Room. Separate from the main hotel and neatly tucked along the waterfront, these former fishermen’s houses carved into the Italian cliffs add luxury to a private retreat with an exclusive breakfast lounge and attentive butler services.
  • La Gavitella, the beach accessible from Casa Angelina, is one of the few west-facing stretches of sand on the coast. While most of the coast falls into the shade during the afternoon, La Gavitella is luminous late into the day, providing optimal sunbathing and unmatched sunset views.
  • Explore the Amalfi Coast in style by renting the luxury hotel’s private boat (an exclusive perk for guests) or have the all-star concierge team reserve you a modern Fiat to cruise the coast by land.

Things to Know

  • A complimentary shuttle is available to and from Positano daily. Day trips and excursions to other destinations such as Ravello or Sorrento can be easily arranged through the Amalfi Coast hotel.
  • To experience an Italian coast beach club scene, travel down the elevator and scenic stairway to reach La Gavitella beach, where cocktails, snacks and music await your arrival. There is a designated area for hotel guests, equipped with complimentary umbrellas, day beds and towels.
  • This Praiano hotel gives off a fairly sophisticated, laid-back luxury vibe. To ensure everyone enjoys a serene stay, the property welcomes guests ages 12 and above.
  • Casa Angelina is a seasonal hotel, only open from April through October.
  • If you’re here for a rejuvenating retreat, check out the hotel’s updated beauty and spa treatment menu, fitness center and classes such as Pilates and sunset yoga. The pool deck provides convenient access to the popular Path of the Gods hike, a scenic cliffside trek from Agerola to Positano.

The Rooms

  • Each room is sleek and simplistic in design and continues the crisp, white aesthetic that characterizes the hotel. The minimalist décor lets those remarkable sea views shine through the sliding glass doors.
  • Luxe amenities at the boutique hotel include your choice of Dyptique, Jo Malone or L’Occitane toiletries; plush Etro sheets; Bang & Olufsen flat-screen TVs and in-room iPads.
  • The 40 rooms in the main building (four additional accommodations are located on the beach) are light-filled, primarily affording scenes of the sea along with a balcony or terrace. Lateral sea-view rooms overlook the cliffside facing Positano with partial water vistas.
  • As well as catering to couples, Casa Angelina offers a chic option for solo travelers in its Single Room category. These compact 160-square-foot spaces have a cozy bed for one and a private furnished balcony for sipping sundowners or morning coffee.

The Restaurants

  • Un Piano Nel Cielo, meaning “a floor in the sky,” is Casa Angelina’s fine-dining restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine and stunning views from the top terrace of the hotel. Ever-evolving multi-course tasting menus (including a vegetarian option) allow executive chef Leopoldo Elefante to exhibit his expertise using the region’s bounty in dishes like handmade tagliolini brightened with Sfusato Amalfitano lemon, and veal cheek with red cabbage and Irpinia black truffle.
  • For a one-of-a-kind experience, schedule a private dinner on the Rooftop Terrace where you’ll interact with the chef before enjoying a three-course meal, individualized based on the day’s freshest ingredients.
  • If you want a more relaxed dining experience, peruse the menu at Seascape Restaurant for Italian classics like beef meatballs in ragout, and salt-crusted local fish served poolside.
  • Whether you’re in the mood for coffee or a cocktail, stop by Seascape Bar for an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Sip on an Aperol spritz, made with the hotel’s own champagne, or enjoy fresh limoncello liqueur from the Amalfi Coast.
