Susona Bodrum, LXR Hotels & Resorts

Romance on Turkey's Turquoise Coast
VERIFIED LUXURY

Named after the legendary mermaid-like creature in Turkish mythology, Susona Bodrum, LXR Hotels & Resorts proves just as magical with a side of fairytale romance. Find this inspiration when looking out toward the Aegean Sea, which you can observe from just about all of the 76 rooms, suites and villas at the seasonal hotel.

The stunning sea view can also be taken in at the restaurants, on a private boat, while playing tennis, in the pool and by wandering the grounds. So whether sipping a drink at Malva cocktail bar or soaking in your private pool, the visage of hills and water help make Susona Bodrum a memorable vacation spot.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The rooms have clean, modern lines and cool gray, white and beige hues. The stark Mediterranean-style décor puts the focus on the ever-changing bright canvas right outside.
  • Book a private cabana by the pool and spend the day soaking in the sun, swimming, eating fresh and healthy foods from Frankie Beach Club or Ezi, and just experiencing what Bodrum has to offer.
  • Taking advantage of the natural beauty encompassing the Bodrum hotel, Spa by Spa Soul offers you another way to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There's a marble-lined hammam, a traditional treatment in Turkey. You can also book a variety of unique treatments, such as a wrap featuring Dead Sea Mud by Charme d’Orient, a massage-exfoliating combination using chickpea scrub and a rhassoul body mask, and hair care using argan oil.
  • The Agean Suite hosts up to eight people and provides an unparalleled view of the sea through its floor-to-ceiling windows. It also includes a private pool and garden, sunbeds, a full kitchen, a large living room, three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
  • Family Beach is a peaceful sliver of sand where you can unwind with healthy drinks and snacks. The jetties, too, offer a beach vibe, though there's no actual sand. Three of these spots are dotted around the water, each sporting day beds and full service. Because space is limited, it's wise to book jetty time in advance.

The Restaurants

  • During the summer, guests of the resort can nibble on seafood pizza, kashkaval cheese pide and Afyon veal tenderloin at Frankie Beach Club. With live music and proximity to the water, the mood is pool chic, and whether going for lunch or an early dinner, dining here feels like vacation. No matter when you come, add on a refreshing island cocktail or goblet of wine.
  • Get a taste of local Aegean ingredients at Malva, located in the hidden sanctuary of Torba Bay. Many of the dishes feature goods from the Bodrum Peninsula and the Gulf of Gökova, all harvested and sourced from small farms and independent fishermen. Live jazz and blues bring the night together and make you linger longer over an after-dinner drink or dessert.
  • Nama Sushi and Raw Bar is the place to go for fresh sushi, sashimi and other Japanese delights. Sit indoors or out and savor not just the tasty food, but a sweet sea breeze, too.
  • Overlooking the water, Ezi is the main eatery at the resort. Many of the indoor tables are nestled into standalone nooks, and outside there are tables with couches as well as seats right on the edge of the terrace. Go here for a traditional Turkish breakfast, or lunch on resort favorites such as the signature burger, prime rib pizza, wild strawberry salad and bouillabaisse. There's a pool menu, too, which will rejuvenate you after a vigorous swim or languid lounge session.
