JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel

A palatial city center retreat

You’ll want for very little once you check into JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. As the name implies, grandeur sweeps throughout this sprawling property.

The impressive facade holds its own against the imposing Palace of Parliament across the street with interiors to match. Dual marble staircases frame the white-columned lobby, all crowned by an immense glass cupola. Six restaurants and bars each transport you to a unique time and place thanks to intricate theming and attention to detail. An expansive spa and fitness center help you work off all of those mouthwatering meals in style and a luxury shopping arcade offers a prime opportunity to pick up souvenirs.

When you’re ready to rest your head, a plethora of recently refreshed accommodations provide an inviting place to unwind — especially from the comfort of a deep-soaking tub.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • A recent refresh transformed all of JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel’s 402 rooms and suites into contemporary retreats with a local touch. A blue and cream color palette inspired by the Danube adds a serene sense of place, while local handicrafts serve as stylish artworks.
  • On your way to dinner at Cucina - The Italian Kitchen, look for the hotel’s lush herb garden. Planted just outside the restaurant’s front door, JW Garden supplies all the property’s dining venues and bars with herbs and fresh produce for use in salads, cocktails and other ultra-fresh presentations.
  • Book accommodations in the Bucharest hotel that give you access to the top-floor Executive Lounge. The tranquil space feels more residential with wood floors and plush seating, and array of food and drinks served throughout the day.
  • JW Marriott Bucharest houses one of the city’s largest spas. Be sure to book at least one indulgent treatment at World Class Health Academy, coupled with a dip in the luxury hotel’s heated indoor pool and whirlpool.
  • Speaking of World Class, the hotel gym is anything but ordinary. The Romanian fitness club franchise is a health haven equipped with just about any piece of equipment you can imagine plus a host of personal trainers to help you meet your goals.

The Restaurants

  • With its exposed brick walls, warm woods and comfortable dining chairs, Cucina - The Italian Kitchen radiates a rustic-chic ambiance. Dishes are equally authentic with a range of seafood-focused fare like Tuscan cacciucco classico alla Livornese, a 500-year-old recipe for seafood stew.
  • JW Steakhouse Bucharest feels airy, thanks to the pale woods and neutral-toned furnishings, all drenched in natural light from the luxury hotel’s central cupola. The open-concept space is as enjoyable for a steakhouse dinner as for JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel’s signature Sunday brunch buffet.
  • Champions will transport homesick Americans straight back to the USA with its vintage bar-themed dining room. Catch the game on one of 19 TVs, try your hand at billiards or darts and enjoy a cold brew on tap, all without leaving the palatial hotel grounds.
  • Have an afternoon pick-me-up along with the luxury hotel’s famous JW cheesecake at the Vienna Lounge. After sundown, make your way to the Pavillion Lounge for small plates and refreshing cocktails as live music wafts through the convivial space.
  • When the weather is agreeable, snag a table at The Garden to soak up a little Bucharest sunshine. The seasonally open dining venue is a lunch spot serving up fresh salads and flame-grilled fare and is equally enchanting in the evening with a sundowner in hand.
