AMARA

A stylish Mediterranean respite
VERIFIED LUXURY

You can’t help but exhale at AMARA, a stylish, modern coastal respite on the shores of Limassol Bay. Opened in 2019, this one-of-a-kind hotel flaunts stunning modernist design and traditional Cypriot architectural touches. Tones of seashell white and driftwood brown complement the deep blue waters just outside.

Speaking of water, all 207 rooms have a mesmerizing Mediterranean Sea view with balconies or terraces, and some come with an intricately detailed private pool.

For more tranquility, visit the more than 32,000-square-foot spa, which features part of the city’s ancient walls; saunas, ice rooms and pools; and a menu of therapeutic services.

If you want a little excitement, dine at the onsite restaurants. World-renowned chefs offer everything from Italian to Japanese fusion to seafood at this culinary hot spot.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Rejuvenate in the spa, which provides treatments old (like the Cyprus Ancient Ritual, where organic olive oil, crushed carob seeds and citrus exfoliate your skin, followed by a massage with rosemary-and-lemon infused olive oil) and new (like the Rose Diamond Facial, which uses diamond dust to restore your skin).
  • Grab a spot in the hotel's outdoor infinity pool that looks over the beach. Only adults are permitted to soak in the seawater pool in the spa area. It’s just the place to catch the sunset.
  • Our favorite accommodation is the Roof Top Duplex with Private Pool, reserved for adults only. The best way to gaze at the sea is from the pool on the glass-wrapped terrace.
  • Dining is exceptional, especially when you savor a meal at Matsuhisa Limassol (an outpost of chef Matsuhisa Limassol’s Japanese-Peruvian fine-dining favorite), Ristorante Locatelli (Italian cuisine from well-regarded chef Giorgio Locatelli) or taste the freshest seafood in Armyra By Papaioannou from Greek chef George Papaioannou.
  • Every room affords 180-degree views of the sea at this beachfront hotel.

  • When you have had too much sun, retreat to the indoor pool and its built-in water chairs.
  • The luxury hotel contains several upscale boutiques selling designer apparel, bags, jewelry, flowers and beach essentials.

The Rooms
  • All rooms at the Limassol hotel have the perk of an ocean view and cool breeze. Sliding glass doors open to balconies with a lounge area.
  • Book one of the cabana accommodations for a private pool, a furnished patio and a path to the beach.

  • Highlights of the marble bathrooms include a spacious bathtub and a standalone shower.

The Restaurants
  • Known for his highly sought-after culinary expertise and celebrity influence, world-renowned chef Nobu Matsuhisa expanded his empire with Matsuhisa Limassol. Clink drinks at the bamboo-style bar while watching a sushi chef at the open station prepare the evening’s meal.
  • A hot spot for both its mixed drinks and relaxing atmosphere, the eighth-floor rooftop bar is enclosed by glass for uninterrupted panoramas.
  • At Ristorante Locatelli, London-based celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli serves handmade pasta, fresh fish and meats, and Italian wine.
