The St. Regis Doha

A palatial retreat on the Arabian Gulf
VERIFIED LUXURY
With a prime position in the heart of Doha’s developing West Bay area, The St. Regis Doha is every bit as sumptuous as you would expect a luxury hotel in Qatar to be.

From the tuxedoed white-gloved doormen and Rolls-Royce-lined entrance to the understated rooms appointed with Arabian accents, this is one of the region’s most sought-after hotels for locals and visitors alike.

The property balances its heritage with its Middle Eastern location — dates and coffee are offered in the public areas and all in-house guests have access to the St. Regis Butler Service, a legacy of the hotel chain’s rich history, ensuring personalized service from check-in. Staff here hails from nearly 50 countries, but the vibe is uniquely Qatari.

Alongside the spacious rooms and attentive service, this West Bay hotel has become synonymous in the city for its noteworthy upscale eateries. Home to 17 restaurants, lounges and bars, The St. Regis Doha boasts a Hakkasan fine-dining concept as well as a hacienda-style Mexican eatery.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The famed St. Regis Butlers — who are always on call for guests — take service to another level. Their offerings run the spectrum from helping you unpack your bags to delivering your complimentary morning coffee, complete with some sweet treats, during your stay.
  • Opt for a stay in one of the hotel’s 58 sumptuous suites. While they’re all alluring in their own ways, some specific units stand out for their décor (Caroline Astor Suite), spaciousness (John Jacob 1 and Empire 2 suites can connect for more than 3,200 square feet) or sea views (Grand Deluxe Suite).
  • The St. Regis Doha has one of the biggest and most glamorous hotel pools in the city. For a touch of Hollywood, rent your own private cabana (equipped with a kitchenette, plunge pool and flat-screen TV) for the day.
  • The breakfast buffet offered at Vine is widely considered one of the biggest and the best in the city. It features live cooking stations and a vast selection of Arabic dishes. The restaurant can get packed on weekends, but as a hotel guest, you’ll always be accommodated.
  • Water sports fans are in for a treat — the hotel’s private beach has jet ski rentals as well as snorkels, paddleboards and small kayaks. But you can really unleash your inner daredevil by booking a parasailing session, if the Gulf winds permit.
Things to Know
  • Doha is a quickly growing city, and the area around the hotel is consistently undergoing construction to make way for a new road network and a metro rail system. Expect some traffic congestion to and from the property.
  • Most hotels in Doha fill up quickly during the two Eid holiday periods (May/June and August/September), so book early or plan around these dates.
  • The Rooftop Bar can get incredibly busy on weekends and during its popular Friday brunch, so if noise is an issue, request a room away from the terrace hot spot.
  • Not all room views are created equal. If a full sea vista is what you are after, opt for a Grand Deluxe room or a suite.
  • The hotel features amenities for guests of all ages. Adults will appreciate all that the fitness center and Guerlain Spa have to offer. Small visitors will love the Kids Learning Center. Everyone will have a blast swimming in the Olympic-size pool.

The Rooms
  • The sizeable rooms are modern, elegant and decorated in muted, neutral tones inspired by the desert with an emphasis on Arabic designs.
  • The corner Empire Suite is designed specifically for families, offering two bedrooms (unusual for Qatar hotels), a family room and a private study area.
  • Several of the Grand Deluxe rooms, located on the lower floors, have small but cozy terraces with comfortable chairs and views over the gardens to the Gulf, perfect for sundowners or just relaxing.
  • The marble-clad bathrooms all feature full bathtubs, rainforest shower heads and luxe Remède Spa amenities.
The Restaurants
  • The hotel’s signature restaurant, The Astor Grill, has earned a reputation as one of the best steakhouses in Doha. For a luxe experience, book the chef’s table to watch the culinary team prepare prime cuts in the open kitchen.
  • The St. Regis Doha is home to a branch of the internationally lauded Cantonese restaurant Hakkasan. Always busy, the dining room is low lit and moody with a menu that boasts intricate handmade Chinese dumplings and a legendary Peking duck.
  • The Doha hotel is one of the few in the city to have a dedicated (and very enthusiastic) sommelier and a cellar stocked with extremely rare wines, exclusive to the West Bay property.
  • Opa delivers a blend of traditional and modern Greek cuisine. After dinner, head to the Rooftop Bar for a drink or down to the hotel’s private beach to chill out to the tunes of a reggae band.
  • If you would like to sample Arabic food, grab a spot at Bebabel, a modern, chic and innovative concept that presents a delectable Lebanese all-day dining experience.
