Our Inspector's Highlights
• Open-air Southernmost Beach Café’s bar offers gorgeous views of the ocean while bartenders sling key-lime flavored cocktails and frozen daiquiris.

• Acoustic music adds to the ambience at dusk as local musicians serenade guests on the grassy West Lawn. Be sure to take an early seat in one of the lazy hammocks above an oasis of sand nearby.

• The calming spa is petite in size, but generous in services. Offering in-room or ocean-side massages as well as the marine-inspired seawater pearl ritual facial, unique treatments are sure to be enjoyed.

• At a reduced rate for guests, Yoga on the Beach offers classes right outside your door. Mats, blankets and props are provided; just bring your spandex and a smile. Namaste.

• Located just on the other side of the beach, the Forbes Travel Guide hotel’s private pier offers a front-row seat to the sunset.
Things to Know
• For a cost-effective option, join the locals for happy hour at Southernmost Beach Café’s bar from 4 to 7 p.m. If you ask, the friendly bartenders will give you your beverages in to-go glasses so you can take your drinks to the beach and enjoy the sunset.

• Save your wallet and book a cost-effective partial ocean view rather than springing for the ocean-view mini suites. With a quaint front porch and the sandy beach right out your door, you won’t need to see the water from your window.

• If you’re staying at the Forbes Travel Guide hotel, enjoy the complimentary beach chairs staff will set up for you.
The Rooms
• Inside the oceanfront rooms at Southernmost Beach Resort, you’ll find a neutral palette of colors with nautical-inspired navy blue prints.

• A window seat filled with cozy pillows makes for a great reading spot and coordinates with the blue bolster pillows accenting the bed.

• Beside the bed, black-and-white prints of oceanfront properties will take you back to a quieter time of coastal summer houses.

• Other unique elements, such as the glass bubble-stem table lamps, add a touch of modernity to the room at the Forbes Travel Guide hotel.
The Restaurants
• At Southernmost Beach Resort, you will find Southernmost Beach Café serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. While always casual, the dinner menu includes fantastic local seafood, complete with an unbeatable ocean view.

• If you are thirsty but can’t bear the thought of leaving the pool, the Shores Pool Bar is nearby, complete with bar menu to satisfy the munchies.

• The Florida Keys hotel also features the Pineapple Bar, which offers a limited lunch menu and cocktails most days from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

• For the liquid version of key lime pie, you have to try Southernmost Beach Café’s beverage of choice among regulars. The frozen Key Lime margarita is a layered mix of green and white, topped with a plastic twisty straw to remind you you’re on casual tropic time.
