Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Seaside glamour on the French Riviera
VERIFIED LUXURY
It’s no surprise that Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in all its grandeur would inspire one of Fitzgerald's novels. The writer was a regular at the French Riviera hotel, set on the furthest tip of the idyllic Cap d'Antibes peninsula.

In the past 100 years, the glamorous reputation of the hotel has changed very little. The 22.5-acre property has slowly expanded with two villas — three-bedroom Villa Eleana with its private pool and the cottage-style Villa Les Cèdres — and 118 guest rooms divided between the main Hotel du Cap; the Eden-Roc Pavilion, home to the lavish Eden-Roc restaurant on the top floor; and Les Deux Fontaines just next door.

Stroll down La Grand Allée from the main building leading to the sea and you can see the luxury hotel in its full glory with cabanas nestled into the rocks and the iconic saltwater pool jutting out over the Mediterranean.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Just off of the lobby in the main building, Le Bellini bar serves up just that in one of the most stylish of settings, surrounded by Corinthian stone columns and 1920s-style all-white sofas where the A-listers of Hollywood sit during events like the Cannes Film Festival.
  • Of course one of the chicest spots in the house is the rooftop Eden-Roc Champagne Lounge, serving a mix of fine and rare bubbly from its exclusive collaboration with 14 champagne houses.
  • At Spa Eden-Roc, get pampered in a salt cave cabin, an outdoor gazebo in the rose garden, a cabana facing the alluring sea or in a traditional treatment room.
  • Take advantage of your oceanfront location with an afternoon on a private pontoon, or opt for one of the available watersports like jet skiing, kayaking or windsurfing.
  • Enjoy the sunshine by the historic pool refreshed with natural seawater, with a match on one of the resort’s five tennis courts or simply in a cabana on the beach.
Things to Know
  • Those up for a non-alcoholic treat can take a seat at the juice and ice cream bar in the garden, which serves freshly made organic juices, housemade sorbets and ice cream.
  • Available during the summer months, parents can drop their little ones off at the Kid’s Club at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc where they’ll enjoy age-appropriate games, treasure hunts and shows.
The Rooms
  • While each of the rooms is individually designed, expect light, refreshing palettes of ivory, pale yellows and blues, accented with bold patterned linens and large picture windows.
  • It’s all elegance here, with classic furnishings, fresh flowers and fruit and views of the sea or the gardens.
  • Some rooms have private terraces and some suites have stone fireplaces, wrap-around balconies and marble bathrooms.
  • The two villas are tucked away from the main building on the resort’s ample acreage and offer privacy and large terraces made for lingering.
The Restaurants
  • The laid-back Grill Eden-Roc has a terrace that sits above the Mediterranean Sea  — get breathtaking panoramic views while sampling a menu of ranging from salads and risottos to the fresh catch of the day and a sushi bar.
  • The gastronomic Eden-Roc restaurant also has tables overlooking the Lérins Islands, as well as an indoor space with floor-to-ceiling views of the sea.
  • The trio behind the celebrated eatery — executive chef Arnaud Poëtte, head chef Olivier Gaiatto and pastry chef Lilian Bonnefoi — is known for putting together stunning displays of traditional dishes like sea bass, fresh beluga caviar and pot au feu.
  • Don’t skip dessert at this phenomenal restaurant either. The signature lemon feuilleté is worth is every calorie.
