Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Modern luxury meets the park life
VERIFIED LUXURY

Nestled in the Malaysian capital’s downtown district, Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur opened in November 2018. Hallmarked by the brand’s ever-attentive service, this luxury hotel delights with copious natural light, eclectic Asian art and dining, and a shimmer of KL’s newly fashionable vibe.

Overlooking Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC) Park, this refined retreat for business and leisure guests affords views of tropical palms and equatorial greenery offset by a glassy skyline. Five dining venues include the double-boiled flavors of Southern China at Yun House, spicy Malaysian noodle and rice dishes at The Lounge and honey-inspired cocktails at Bar Trigona. The Sunday Bubbly Brunch at Curate is a lavish champagne feast, while afternoon tea at The Lounge charms KL celebrities and high society.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur slows the urban pace with aromatherapy treatments designed for Malaysian sultans. By contrast, floor-to-ceiling windows afford gym workouts with elevated views of the park’s colorfully choreographed fountains and al fresco dining scene.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • This luxury hotel is situated right in the beating heart of KL. Plentiful boutique shopping, bars, cafés and restaurants are available at the Suria KLCC shopping center. The iconic Petronas Twin Towers are a few steps from the door. And at nearby KLCC Park, you can share in the outdoor fun with locals.
  • After a dip in the 7th-floor, open-air infinity pool, soak up the sun in a couple’s cabana amid a lush tropical garden or sip chilled bubbles and snack on Asian tapas dishes on the stone-tiled bar terrace.
  • From the entrance upwards, original Southeast Asian art ranges from pewter sculptures by Malaysia’s Royal Selangor to Thai floral ceramics and more than 100 abstract paintings by Malaysian artists. There’s also an art gallery on the 7th-floor presenting monthly showcases curated by local gallery Emerging Artists.
  • Bar Trigona has quickly established itself among KL’s elite cocktail lounges, enhanced by an attention-grabbing interior design, inventive use of organic local ingredients and a fashionable clientele.
  • The Spa counts five individual, two couple’s rooms and one suite. A signature Rotan Manau Herbal Tungku Massage blends organic ginger from Pahang with Kuem Royal Heritage essential oils originally formulated for the nation’s royal family. This sanctuary is the only one in Malaysia to offer ayurvedic-inspired Subtle Energies’ Shanti body products, plus deliver hair and nail treatments (using halal-certified polishes) by Korean beauty salon Leekaja.

Things to Know

  • The hotel, plus Four Seasons-branded serviced residences and a retail center, occupies a 1,050-feet, 77-floor skytower in the city center. It’s a 15-minute drive from the KL Ekspres airport train station, or 45 minutes from the KL International Airport.
  • The lobby (Floor 6B) and park-view rooms offer photogenic panoramas of KLCC Park, especially at sunrise and sunset. The view of the Cesar Pelli-designed Twin Towers, though, is obscured by another tower in between.
  • Nearby attractions include the tropical Perdana Botanical Gardens (also known as the Lake Gardens), the National Museum of Malaysia and the Mughal-style architecture of Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square). Close to the hotel, a scenic jogging route around KLCC Park is popular with morning and evening fun runners and serious athletes.
  • A prime location amid office towers, and opposite to the KL Convention make Four Seasons a prized venue for brand launches and business galas. Generally, though, it attracts a mixed crowd of affluent Malaysian and Asian travelers and corporate guests through weekdays and weekends.

The Rooms

  • The Four Seasons features 209 rooms (including 11 suites) spanning the eighth and 18th floors — the higher the stay, the more striking the capital views. Top of the pile is the 2,594-square-foot Royal Suite, where privacy is ensured since it’s the only abode on the 18th floor.
  • Starting from 624 square feet, the rooms offer varying color combinations based on a charcoal, caramel and lime gold palette. You’ll enjoy wall-hung TV, an iPad with the Four Seasons Chat App and centralized controls of all room functions.
  • Each marble-covered bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub and L’Occitane Amande (rooms) and Roja Bergamot (suites) bathroom products – plus TV screens embedded into the mirrors.
  • An outsized mini bar resembling a pantry cupboard in every room is stocked with Malaysian-flavored snacks (see: Trigona honey cashew nuts, spicy filo anchovy nuts and salted egg yolk tapioca chips) chilled wines, beers and soft drinks.

The Restaurants

  • Malaysians freely admit an obsession with their local fare, and The Lounge serves up a selection of its sometimes-spicy classics. Tuck into a piquant Nasi lemak rice dish with short-rib rendang, anchovies and tiger prawn sambal. Malay-fusion set menus curated by celebrity chef Dato’ Fazley Yaakob are served during national festivals, such as Ramadan.
  • Yun House combines the floral aesthetics of a Southern Chinese garden and a traditional tea lounge. This reservations-only hot spot specializes in traditional Cantonese dishes, such as steamed sea grouper with scallion oil in a lotus leaf basket, and freshly made dim sum.
  • Reserve your spot in advance for monthly afternoon tea presentations at The Lounge, which are themed in partnership with luxury brands (like Tiffany & Co) and top Malaysian fashion designers.
  • Named after a Southeast Asian bee, Bar Trigona mixes organic Malaysian honey and tropical fruits and flowers into imaginative cocktails such as Forbidden Fruit (Tequila, fermented grapefruit, Trigona honey, lemon and grapefruit soda). The drinks are best sipped at the bar counter that’s set against a mirrored, bottle-stack backdrop, giving the illusion of being double height. It’s become one of KL’s most Instagram’d installations.
