45 Park Lane

Art deco style in London

With distinctive art deco styling, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star 45 Park Lane is a breath of fresh air in London’s posh Mayfair neighborhood. Sister to the storied Four-Star The Dorchester just across the street, 45 Park Lane overlooks the leafy treetops of Hyde Park — an obstructed park view can be enjoyed from each of the luxury hotel’s 45 rooms and suites.

Its flagship restaurant, American steakhouse CUT, the first restaurant in Europe from the internationally acclaimed chef Wolfgang Puck, is found in the two-story lobby.

Warm colors and chrome- and leather-heavy décor comes courtesy of the famous French designer Thierry W. Despont and complements the enviable display of art, including works by contemporary artist Damien Hirst. A cozy bar offers an excellent wine list and premium cocktails, with a comfy library and media room available for in-house guests.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The building that once housed London’s original Playboy Club now plays host to well-heeled guests and celebrities, like Kate Moss or Gwen Stefani.
  • The perfectly cooked cuts of meat at the hotel’s restaurant and in-room dining menu are beautifully seasoned — the chefs at CUT by Wolfgang Puck downstairs are experts at handling steaks, burgers and other grilled items.
  • The hotel has just 45 rooms and a door staff that remembers guest names. We also like seeing familiar faces at the front desk and not having to trek down long corridors from the elevators to far-flung rooms.
  • Each guest is assigned a butler/concierge/ambassador who acts as your point person for every need, such as dry cleaning, forgotten toothbrushes or anything else that might make your stay a little more convenient.
  • High-tech features stand out among other hotels, and include in-room iPads, enormous Bang & Olufsen televisions with more than 100 channels, bathroom televisions and touch-screen telephones that control the lighting, blinds and privacy notifications.
Things to Know
  • While Bar 45 is lovely and intimate, it can get crowded during the after-work hours, so stake out a spot against the mirrored wall or in the Library for a little more breathing room.
  • If you need some exercise during your stay, grab the in-room yoga mat and turn the TV to 45 Park Lane’s fitness channel for workouts by exercise expert Matt Roberts.
  • Spa goers should head to The Dorchester. Guests of 45 Park Lane have access to the spa facilities at the nearby sister hotel, including the sauna, steam room and relaxation lounge.
The Rooms
  • Expect a luxurious take on the art deco era: a soothing color palette of aqua and earth tones, geometric shapes used throughout the space with brown, diamond-patterned carpeting, strong lines and floor lamps that are playful in scale.
  • Lacquered in glossy black and dark brown, the furnishings contrast the grainy wood baseboarding, crushed white velvet walls and soft sea foam felt panels.
  • A gorgeous wall of rose-colored mirrored panels accents the bedroom, which includes a desk coated with pebbled camel leather.
  • The bathrooms at 45 Park Lane are coated in luxurious materials and include high-tech features like the Geberit toilet with a remote control, which can adjust seat temperature, and showers with a trio of nozzles that can be operated all at once.
