Yaamava’ Resort & Casino

A new chapter in stay-and-play luxury
VERIFIED LUXURY

For 35 years, the Inland Empire’s San Manuel was a casino without a hotel. In 2021, all that changed with the opening of Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel, a new luxury enclave tucked inside Highland, California’s picturesque San Bernardino Mountains.

Just 70 minutes outside of Los Angeles, the 432-room resort tower has everything you need when you’re done at the slots — the casino boasts more than 6,500 of them — including an innovative wellness-driven spa, fully stocked poolside cabanas, nearly a dozen dining options that range from Chinese delicacies to prime steaks and rare vintages, and inviting rooms that provide a respite after a long day.

To the Serrano people, the word yaamava’ means “spring,” and the 17-floor resort tower personifies many of the characteristics of the season for which it is named. The structure looks as if it is woven from the earth, spouting from the hillside. Behind the front desk, a botanical art installation adds a soothing vibe along with the lobby’s water features and natural stone accents. And if you look closely, you can make out the signature letter “Y” just about everywhere on the property.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Yaamava' is powered by intentions, from the highly personalized service to the purposeful way guests choose to spend their day. The staff focuses on one-on-one interactions, so expect to be greeted in the valet by name, and courteously and promptly checked into a lavishly appointed room or suite.
  • The Pines Modern Steakhouse delivers decadence with dishes like a juicy 36-ounce porterhouse, millionaire’s mac and cheese (with prosciutto, Parmigiano cream, black truffles, a poached egg and gold leaf) and extravagant cocktails from the special Collection 86 menu.
  • Serrano Spa looks to the nature just outside its doors for its transformative treatments. Choose a stone that aligns with the journey you need; for example, turquoise delivers tranquility and purity with services like the Turquoise Sea Creation Facial, Turquoise Sea Re-mineralizing Massage and Turquoise Ocean Body Ritual.
  • Guests staying in accommodations on the 16th and 17th floors at the luxury hotel have access to the Y Lounge, a top-floor VIP area that features a prestige liquor collection, a cigar-smoking nook, liquor lockers for the most esteemed guests and a breakfast buffet. The Y Lounge offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with panoramic mountain views. There are also many TVs throughout to capture the excitement of sporting events.
  • With 127 suites in multiple configurations, there is a layout to satisfy everyone. For those who love to soak, some accommodations have large tubs. For those who like a long rain-fall shower experience, the showers here command an extra five minutes. Other amenities include amplified workspaces for those who need to work while on the road.

The Rooms

  • There are no bad views at Yaamava', as the hotel sits propped up with mountains all around it. North-facing rooms overlook the San Manuel Reservation, while south-facing rooms give pool views. To breathe in that mountain air, request a room with a balcony.
  • Accommodations on the 16th and 17th floors, where the suites are positioned, have expansive ceilings and buttery threaded Frette linens. Sink into the ultra-plush robe, which feels like being wrapped in a soft, warm blanket.
  • A nice design touch: most of the accommodations come with an authentic 1950s Eames lounge chair and ottoman manufactured by the Herman Miller company. They come in myriad colors — from soft black to slate gray — to match the cool yet natural palette of the rooms.
  • There are places to charge up everywhere. Next to the bed, discover a wireless charging station within the alarm clock, and there are outlets discreetly tucked into the side of the nightstands.
  • The top accommodation is a 2,600-square-foot suite on the 17th floor, with a living space, a bar and an oversized terrace.
