Grand Velas Boutique Hotel

Los Cabos’ adults-only, all-inclusive gem

In Los Cabos, it seems a new luxury hotel opens every month, making it hard to keep up with the latest and greatest in area real estate. Grand Velas Boutique Hotel, the third in the brand’s Cabo contingent, opened in November 2023, joining sisters Grand Velas and Mar Del Cabo. The adults-only, all-inclusive gem takes luxury to a new level, offering sleekly modern design and an intimate yet sophisticated experience consisting of world-class dining; a private, pristine stretch of white sand beach; superior butler service; and enticing in-room touches that make the property feel just a hair above the rest.

Grand Velas Boutique Hotel is more than just a destination; it's an experience that redefines luxury and comfort. With its exceptional suites, gourmet dining, rejuvenating spa, all-inclusive amenities and remarkable design, it stands as one to beat in the Cabo hotel scene.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Los Cabos hotel's architecture, designed by Ricardo Elías, seamlessly integrates into the stunning landscape, offering unobstructed views of the Sea of Cortez. The design creates a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere with natural materials, a soothing color palette, and local artistic touches. However, the smooth marble corridors and unique, forest-inspired lobby wouldn’t feel out of place in Southern California, either.
  • Each of the 79 rooms offers dedicated outdoor space and a water feature — either a jacuzzi tub or plunge pool — on the balcony. Even garden-view rooms can still see slivers of ocean.
  • Like all Grand Velas resorts, food is a focus here. From robata-style Japanese-Mexican fusion at Loto to fresh ceviche and tacos at Roca (named after Cabo’s signature rock formations), you’ll find fabulous fare at each outlet.
  • Overlooking the ocean, the SE Spa offers unique treatments like the Sounds of the Ocean massage, a detoxification therapy and a Wellness Ceremony. With its powerful jets, the magnesium pool adds to the spa's promise of rejuvenation and relaxation, while doors open right to the beach for a unique spa-to-sand concept.
  • The resort's stepped layout (set over six levels) ensures that all suites receive ample sunlight, and the pool's mosaic design is a visual delight.

Things to Know

  • From gourmet meals and premium branded beverages to round-the-clock in-suite service and nightly entertainment, everything is included in the resort's nightly rate.
  • Staff works like a well-oiled machine to ensure guest whims are met, from offering a special pregnancy pillow to seamlessly replenishing eco-friendly S’well bottles of iced water poolside.
  • The six-level spread of the property means you’re either taking the stairs (a great way to burn off the mezcal) or an elevator to get from the beach to the main dining areas, the boutique, the TechnoGym-stocked fitness center or anywhere else.

The Rooms

  • Even the entry-level rooms span well over 750 feet and offer outdoor Jacuzzi tubs and expansive terraces.
  • The premium Grand Class suites, which have an extra half bath, plunge pools, outdoor firepits and dramatic ocean views, are a great, amenity-filled option.
  • Expect rooms to have bedside USB plugs, gratis minibars (stocked twice daily with juices, soft drinks, beer and snacks), a curated Nespresso selection, a curated pillow menu and customized aromatherapy at turndown.

The Restaurants

  • Suite service (aka room service) is a must. Let the luxury hotel staff set up a custom breakfast spread with granola parfaits, cocktails, and eggs made to order on your balcony or dining table.
  • Don’t miss dinner at signature restaurant Loto, which offers Japanese-Mexican fusion and a unique robota-style concept, the only one of its kind in Cabo. Order dishes like short rib gyozas with lemongrass, cilantro and shoyu; Comondu oyster served with kaffir lime, yellow ají chili, porchetta and cilantro; or the shareable yellowfin and octopus skewers.
  • For more variety, you can also enjoy dinner at sister property Grand Velas’ six dinner outlets as well.
