Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

A private Los Cabos haven

Since its opening in 2019, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve — the brand’s first such concept in Mexico — has drawn a loyal crowd of luxury hotel devotees to Los Cabos, a destination known for its abundance of big-name hotels. There many reasons why they might flock to Zadún. It could be because every spacious room comes with a plunge pool and deck where you will want to spend lazy days gazing at the beach. Maybe it’s the attentive service — every room comes with a butler. Or perhaps it's the spa, a haven of tranquility.

Whichever the reason, Zadún manages to maintain its boutique identity and personalized service without sacrificing polish or flair, resulting in a 115-room and suite hotel that is as well suited to families looking for an active escape as it is to couples craving peace, quiet and well-deserved relaxation along the Sea of Cortez.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Zadún is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Mexico. Reserves are an elevated concept promising style and uncommon luxury, usually in unique or memorable locales; properties are also generally smaller than traditional Ritz-Carltons. Zadún is just 115 rooms, but spread across 42 distinct buildings, ensuring that each accommodation feels uniquely private.
  • Dining is a memorable experience at the Los Cabos hotel, starting with breakfast at El Barrio with Mexican dishes like huevos rancheros. Lunch offers street-stand tacos, and dinner provides a spread of shareable small plates. When you want a nightcap, try Candil, the mezcal bar with sculptural metal wrapping around the façade; the cut-out building also looks like a lantern when lit at night.
  • Ingeniously built into the hillside, the Los Cabos hotel makes the most of its 20-acre campus, ensuring that nearly every spot on the property boasts panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez, while neutral stone and cement walls allow the natural setting to stand out.
  • The 30,000-square-foot Spa Alkemia is a destination experience unto itself, featuring treatments designed to provide peaceful healing. The setting’s lush foliage makes you feel as if you are in a jungle, not the Baja desert. Try services like the Alkemia, a stimulating massage performed on a gemstone mat with aromatic oils to open chakras and healing points, as well a savasana sound treatment room, for a Zen-out moment.
  • The beach is unique in how secluded it is compared to other hotels in the corridor. Long and flat, it’s ideal for a sunrise or sunset stroll without being bothered by other guests or souvenir vendors.

Things to Know

  • Families will appreciate the resort’s Camp Zadún, which is designed in conjunction with the brand’s Ambassadors of the Environment program. Named after famed oceanographic explorer and environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau, the program allows children to enjoy specially tailored activities like yoga, origami and animal adventures daily.
  • Perfectly positioned near the Puerto Los Cabos, the luxury hotel is within 15 minutes of the historic village of San Jose Del Cabo, famed dining spots like Acre and Flora Farms, and the rich nightlife of Cabo San Lucas proper.
  • We prefer the smaller adults-only pool, which is perched right on top of the beach, but a large infinity pool and rentable cabanas are open for families as well.

The Rooms

  • Living spaces are oversized, even for Cabo. Rooms start at 750 square feet and boast floor-to-ceiling glass windows that all afford varying views of the dramatic beach and the Sea of Cortez beyond.
  • Alluring plunge pools, fire pits and outdoor sitting areas come standard in all accommodations.
  • Inside the rooms, you’ll find art and textiles from local artisans, soothing wood tones and deep-blue accents inspired by the sea outside.
  • Each room comes with a tosoani, a private butler who can arrange everything from spa services to a round of golf on a nearby championship course. Don’t want to chat? Your tosoani can correspond by text.
