Andaz Macau

An artistic retreat within Galaxy Macau
VERIFIED LUXURY

When breaking into a high-rolling market like Macau, you need to go big — and luxury lifestyle hotel brand Andaz decided to go all in here. The September 2023-opened Andaz Macau is not only the brand’s first foray into the market but, with more than 700 rooms spread across two striking towers, it’s also the world’s largest Andaz-branded property.

Tucked between the historic Old Taipa and Coloane neighborhoods, the new luxury hotel pays homage to its hometown’s roots in stylish fashion. Rooms boast a chic and earthy color palette designed to mirror Coloane’s beloved green spaces, while a European-influenced signature dining room churns out a mouthwatering blend of Portuguese and Chinese plates.

If you can tear yourself away from your elegant home base, you’ll have the nearly endless amenities of the megalithic Galaxy Macau complex at your fingertips, including world-class shopping, Vegas-style entertainment and the sun-dappled delights of the Grand Resort Deck.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Andaz Macau is a haven for art lovers, boasting a curated collection of works from local and regional talent that beautifully showcase the city’s unique history. Highlights include a series of steel sculptures by Malaysian artist Tang Mun Kian dubbed Juxtapose, antique vases Glass Horizon 1930 and Glazed Mountains 1840, and elegant glass sculptures like Sails of Glass.
  • Helmed by chef André Lai, Andaz Kitchen serves up an array of Portuguese, Macanese and Chinese dishes from a lively open kitchen. The airy dining room draws inspiration from historic Macau shophouses, which explains the wooden archways and signature blue-and-white Portuguese mosaics called azulejos.
  • A dedicated 62-foot heated indoor pool equipped with plush loungers and low lighting provides a serene respite from the bustle of Macau’s high-energy nightlife.
  • A major perk of a stay at the Macau hotel is gratis access to Galaxy Macau’s immense Grand Resort Deck. The outdoor complex is home to highlights like the world’s largest rooftop wave pool, waterslides, a sprawling lazy river and two white sand beaches.
  • Savor locally inspired sips at the moody Andaz Bar. A curated cocktail menu tells a playful story of Macau through tipples like Ou-Mun’gfaly’, a drink inspired by a popular local peanut candy.

The Look

  • Upon entry, you’ll likely notice the luxury hotel’s signature installation dubbed Macau Steps. The bookshelf-lined central staircase showcases more than 100 videos that artfully tell the story of this UNESCO-designated city.
  • The massive Andaz property endeavors to showcase Macau’s East-meets-West sensibility through its carefully curated art collection. When checking in, look for an installation titled Landscapes Interlaced, which features images of the Macau skyline with natural Chinese materials woven throughout.
  • Boasting a minimalist-meets-midcentury-modern design, accommodations embrace a natural palette in hues of emerald, burnt orange and rich brown punctuated by vibrant contemporary artworks. Small bonsai-like trees and locally sourced bath and minibar amenities add a charming local touch.
  • While sipping coffee in the sixth-floor Andaz Lounge, be sure to admire an array of Portuguese and Chinese couture gowns — another nod to Macau’s rich melting pot of cultures.
  • The centerpiece of signature dining room Andaz Kitchen is a wall of hand-painted ceramics called Layers of Tradition. Look closer to discover a blend of Chinese and Portuguese patterns and motifs unique to Macau-made porcelain.
