The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort

Marine-inspired Maldivian luxury
VERIFIED LUXURY

Outfitted for both romance and family vacations, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is an island oasis. The resort stands upon on an exquisite 22-acre paradise in the southern Dhaalu Atoll, a 45-minute seaplane journey from Male International Airport.

Staying true to the luxurious values of the renowned St. Regis brand, this elegant property exemplifies contemporary architecture and modern interiors, without distracting from its stellar surroundings. Wong Chiu Man of Singapore-based WOW Architects pays tribute to the rich natural Maldivian seascape: glass-walled villas resemble abstract manta rays and the bar takes the form of a whale shark.

Ten extravagant room categories are showcased across 33 land villas and 44 overwater retreats. With six restaurants and bars, an Iridium Spa and the Vommuli House recreation center (try anti-gravity yoga here), you'll be spoiled by all that The St. Regis Maldives has to offer.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • If you’re here for sun and surf, book an overwater villa. The accommodations feature private decks, plunge pools, relaxation nets over the turquoise waters and deep-soaking tubs with a view.
  • The stunning marine-inspired Whale Bar is the spot to catch a Maldivian sunset. The stylish space serves sundowners, seafood and even multi-course menus to complement the color-streaked skies.
  • Visit Vommuli House to try something new on your Maldives vacation. Opt for anti-gravity yoga, a trampoline fitness class or acupuncture, or simply drop the kids off at the children’s club for an afternoon of fun while you savor some alone time on the beach.
  • Enjoy the royal treatment from the moment you land at Male International Airport. You’ll be whisked via limo (or, if you’re lucky, the only Bentley in the Maldives) to a sleek airport lounge, where you can order from an à la carte menu or freshen up in the private bathroom (complete with a shower) before boarding a seaplane to the Maldives resort.
  • Iridium Spa has six sumptuous overwater treatment rooms each with spectacular ocean vistas. Don’t miss a soak in the striking Blue Hole hydrotherapy pool where heated seawater and whirlpool jets dissolve tensions.

Things to Know

  • Tiny travelers will be spoiled for choice with activities like scavenger hunts, cooking classes and mini discos. Teens can head for the Socialite Club for air hockey, table tennis and PS4 video games.
  • Upon arrival, a complimentary bottle of champagne, a fruit basket and snacks will be waiting for you in your villa.
  • Make the most of the resort’s signature St. Regis Butler service. It's especially handy when you’d rather head for the beach than bother with unpacking.
  • For an ultra-exclusive excursion, charter The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort's 66-foot yacht Norma. The three-cabin Azimut Flybridge 66 is the first of its kind to be specially commissioned by a hotel.

The Rooms

  • The island's four ecological zones inspire room interiors. Overwater villas draw influences from the lagoon, beach villas resemble golden stretches of sand, garden villas recall lush jungle greenery and family villas look like traditional Maldivian dhoni boats.
  • You won't find a single thatched roof here. These ultra-luxe villas offer marble interiors, walls of windows, high ceilings, black iron window frames and illuminated white onyx vanities.
  • Technology lovers will be pleased at the luxury resort, too. Revel in Bang & Olufsen BeoVision TVs, Bose sound systems and iPad-controlled in-room facilities.
  • For the ultimate Maldives escape, book the three-bedroom John Jacob Astor Estate. Named for the founder of the St. Regis brand, this sprawling overwater accommodation boasts a soundproof movie theater, a 344-square-foot infinity pool, an exercise room and yoga studio, a furnished overwater terrace and its own private beach.
  • The beachfront Caroline Astor Estate seamlessly blends sophistication and leisure. The 6,673-square-foot regal retreat comes  with a 721-square-foot swimming pool, marble bathrooms, a walk-in closet and a rainforest shower.

The Restaurants

  • All-day dining venue ALBA is barefoot elegance in restaurant form. Indulge in chef Ayyoub Salameh's Italian plates poolside or beneath a beachy white-tasseled chandelier in the bright and airy dining room, lined with wall-to-wall windows, of course.
  • Decanter underground wine cellar is home to more than 615 labels from 23 countries, including a rare 1755 Sercial Campanario from Portugal. This chic spot specializes in one-off, five-course degustation menus paired with vino from the 2,000-bottle collection.
  • Cargo is a shipping-container-turned-restaurant tucked into the jungle, offering an intimate Middle Eastern dining experience under the stars.
  • Surrounded by vistas of turquoise waters, Orientale serves up specialties from across Asia. Savor sushi and sashimi, Indian tandoor dishes, or Chinese plates like dim sum, prawn dumplings and roasted duck.
  • If you can’t tear yourself away from the beach, grab a tasty bite at one of two toes-in-the-sand eateries. Crust turns out thin-crust pies with flavorful toppings like tandoori chicken or Maldivian tuna, while Craft serves up casual fare like chicken wings and tacos.
