Amilla Maldives

Innovative tropical living

Amilla Maldives redefines the essence of innovative tropical living. Sporting whitewashed geometric architecture, 10 beach villas, five treetop pool villas, eight ultra-luxe multi-bedroom residences and 44 overwater villas all exude minimalistic island bliss.

Overlooking the turquoise waters of the rich Baa Atoll region, Amilla Maldives is a picturesque, 30-minute seaplane ride or combined 20-minute domestic flight and 10-minute speedboat journey from Velana International Airport.

In addition to its wonderfully secluded location, the Maldives resort wins you over with Javvu Spa’s wellness options and calming treatment rooms; the multifaceted dining options of Baazaar, renowned Japanese restaurant Feeling Koi and the Indian flavors of East.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • A reception desk is a thing of the past at the Maldives hotel. Instead, your private katheeb will take care of your every need, from booking indulgent spa treatments to organizing elegant in-room dining experiences.
  • Glamping reaches new heights at Javvu Spa (meaning “atmosphere" in Dhivehi). It doesn’t get much more romantic than the lush jungle surrounding you when you are inside the 13-foot transparent, air-conditioned bubble, witnessing the starry night sky above and experiencing a restorative treatment.
  • Perched among 400-year-old banyan trees, the spa is ahead of the wellness curve. The facility is home to Sensora, one of only a handful of advanced colored-light chromotherapy systems in the world used to clinically align the body’s electrical field, breath and heartbeat.
  • It's easy to embark on a health and wellness journey at Amilla Maldives with personal training studios and a rotating calendar of visiting experts. Start your day with over-water sunrise yoga or an energizing workout at the outdoor Jungle Gym.
  • While nightlife in the Maldives is scarce, you’ll find it here. The resort has a live DJ at Baa Bar and offers sunset cocktails at Sunset Bar.

Things to Know

  • Encounter beautiful manta rays at UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Baa Atoll (and the beautiful Hanifaru Bay just minutes away) from early June to November.
  • Sail open seas aboard Blend Princessa luxurious 62-foot, air-conditioned yacht complete with two spacious guest cabins, a sun lounging area, in-cabin flat-screen TV and a live cooking station.
  • To capture those vacation memories, book a 30-minute complimentary photo shoot with Shutterfish Photography Studio and take home your favorite image.
  • With treasure maps on the walls and a pirate ship in the playroom, The Sultan’s Village Kids' Club has its own intriguing story for tiny travelers. Little ones will take pleasure in each day’s themed activities, including the lagoon cruise treasure hunt.

The Rooms

  • Maldives meets Miami inside the walls of Amilla Maldives' eight residences. There’s really no need to venture beyond your chic island home — blast your vacation playlist via integrated Bose surround sound system and have your meals prepared by a private chef all while dabbling among the pools, shaded hammocks and oceanfront day beds.
  • Wake up to your own tropical island fantasy in the six-bedroom Amilla Estate. Adults can indulge in the fully stocked wine cellar, private gym and spa treatment rooms, while kids will be entertained with the beach-edge swimming pool, cinema room, pool table, table tennis, volleyball, PlayStation and iMac.
  • Stay overwater in one of several categories of villas: Reef Water, Sunset Water, Lagoon Water, Treetop or Beach. All come equipped with their own freshwater pools, sundecks, day beds, outdoor rainwater showers and colorful patterned tiles.
  • Rejuvenate, pamper and hydrate your skin with Aesop or Lemongrass House toiletries.

The Restaurants

  • Partake in special wine tasting tours at The Cellar Door, home to more than 7,500 bottles and 250 labels.
  • Dine alfresco at the overwater restaurant Feeling Koi. The playful dining experience features Japanese izakaya-style shared plates accompanied by Nikkei favorites like sushi, nigiri and sashimi made with fresh Maldivian yellow fin tuna.
  • A fusion of international flavors and local favorites, Baazaar is home to six outlets: South Indian flavors at East, Italian concept Barolo, Joe's Pizza, healthy lunch options at Chill'd Cafe, breakfast spot Fresh and Baa Bar, where you'll discover plenty of specialty gin labels.
