St. Julian’s tower of elegance
VERIFIED LUXURY

Mellow out on the nearby beaches of St. George’s Bay while staying at the stunning Hyatt Regency Malta. Modern design touches can be seen all over the hotel, from the intricate wallpaper in the common areas to comfortable lounging chairs throughout to the tilework outside the front door. The same type of aesthetic can be found in the main dining room and chic meeting space (which totals nearly 5,200 square feet).

Choose from the 151 airy and bright guest rooms and suites, which either sport floor-to-ceiling windows or a balcony. With dusty-blue and warm-gold highlights, the accommodations mirror the calm of the water down below. Each room also features views of the bay, the ancient priory down below and city beyond.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • When not heading to the beach, travel upstairs to the rooftop pool. Not only is the outdoor pool the perfect place to lounge, but you can indulge in GIN-ger, a casual café and bar serving drinks all day, Asian-inspired snacks and dinner. As one might guess, its specialty drink is gin and tonic, and the bar offers a long list of options.
  • Visit the Carisma Spa & Wellness center while staying at the Malta hotel. There's a large, heated pool; modern fitness center with Technogym equipment; steam room; and dry sauna. Get ready for some pampering: the spa also boasts more than 12 different types of massage.
  • Book one of the Phytomer treatments at the spa. Founded in 1972, this French company deals in marine-based cosmetics, an earth-friendly line of products that are used for facials, treating blemishes and softening skin.
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at Seed, a seasonal Mediterranean restaurant overlooking the historical Augustinian priory. The chefs utilize island-grown produce and herbs harvested from the hotel's own garden to create dishes such as grilled brioche with white crab, almonds, beet root and a lemon aioli; or the slow-cooked beef fillet with pan-seared foie gras and a caramelized onion tart.
  • With more than 10 stories, plus a "barrier-free" roof deck (it’s surrounded by glass panels), Hyatt Regency Malta has one of the best views in town. Book a room near the top for a flawless vista of St. Julian's and the bay.

Nearby Attractions

  • Some of the most interesting things to see in Malta are the temples that date back to the stone age. Visit the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, an underground prehistoric burial site, and the temple of Haġar Qim, which stands on top of a hill overlooking the islet of Fifla and the beautiful sapphire sea. The first destination is just 11 minutes from the hotel by car, and the temple is around 20 minutes away.
  • Visit the elegant 16th-century Casa Rocca Piccola that is the home of the noble Maltese family de Piro. Located in Malta's capital city, Valletta, this stunning palace was built in 1580 by Admiral Don Pietro la Rocca. Go a step further and request a private tour by the marquis and marchioness de Piro, which is followed by refreshments.
  • The beaches of Malta shouldn't be skipped. Take a day trip to Ghajn Tuffieha, or Riviera Beach. There aren't many amenities, save for a snack cart and umbrella service, but it's isolated and pristine, partially because you need to walk down a long set of stone stairs to get here. For a more populated spot, Ramla il-Hamra, or Red Sandy Beach, is great for sun, snorkeling and a bite to eat at one of the charming cafés. The first beach is about 20 minutes by car from the hotel, and the Red Sandy Beach is a good 75 minutes away.
