Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury

A tropical haven in Mauritius

When conjuring up a faraway tropical getaway, you likely imagine something like the Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury. Thatched roofs cover the hotel’s buildings. It takes up a picturesque stretch of beach in Mauritius' Grand Baie. Bountiful palm trees surround the property. And no matter which of the 69 spacious suites you book, you’ll be spoiled by a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean’s serene, turquoise waters and white sand.

Arrive in grand style via the property's private helipad. Once you’ve landed, book meals at the three main restaurants, all presided over by French chef William Girard. Unwind in the 18-treatment-room spa. Spend a day at one of the three heated and fully staffed swimming pools, each with a distinct personality. For more aquatic fun, the boathouse offers water sports, boats and equipment to help you really enjoy the island’s natural beauty.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The most lavish accommodation, the Royal Suite boasts a two-level space with a private pool, terrace, balcony, butler service, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Soft leather and polished wood, with pops of bright blue and coral accent the space’s golden hues.
  • Make time to go to the Royal Palm Spa. Here the treatments center on natural wellness techniques to heal the mind and body, featuring products by Valmont. Choose among Ayurvedic services, reiki, reflexology, hair care and more.
  • Luxury abounds in the Ocean Suite, which comes with a spacious bedroom, large lounge area and roomy bathroom with a soaking tub. Shades of beige, bronze and turquoise add to the warmth of the space, and natural light gives the suite a relaxing, homey feel. Also take advantage of the double terrace, which gives direct access to the gardens and sea and, if desired, serves as a setting for a dinner for four.
  • You will find a modern fitness center in the heart of the hotel's gardens. A team of professional trainers and supervisors remains on hand to oversee the area and help you make the most of the facility. The Mauritius hotel also provides three tennis courts, a bocce ball and squash court, table tennis and more.
  • Children ages 3 to 11 will enjoy the complimentary Ti Royal Kids Club. For ages 12 to 17, the resort organizes complimentary, age-appropriate activities as well. And adults have their own club, Mont Choisy Le Golf, an 18-hole golf course just 10 minutes from the resort.

The Restaurants

  • Enjoy a breakfast buffet and full dinner service at La Goélette, the property’s primary 80-seat restaurant. The eatery’s location — a large terrace overlooking the clear waters of the sea below — makes it stand out from standard hotel dining establishments. Visit the walk-in wine cellar, too, where you can pick out the perfect bottle for the meal.
  • Asiya (“Asia” in Sanskrit) is a pan-Asian restaurant offering a variety of cuisines from different regions of the continent. The seafront eatery is open for dinner only.

  • Relax in the casual elegance of the beachfront Restaurant Le Plage, which sits in the shade of an impressive local badamier almond tree. Enjoy eclectic international cuisine for lunch here daily on one of the two crescent-shaped decks or a cocktail at the bar. Dinner service is available on the during the Southern summer.
  • Catch The Royal Grill, the hotel's signature culinary event, taking place each Thursday at the luxury hotel. The extensive buffet features scrumptious barbecue, smoked fish, salads, crudités, chilled zucchini soup, fresh fish, calamari and all the desserts one could dream of.
