Las Mañanitas Hotel Garden Restaurant & Spa

A garden getaway in Cuernavaca

Entering the grounds of Las Mañanitas Hotel Garden Restaurant & Spa is like stepping into a world untouched by time. A year-round temperate climate encourages the growth of palms, fiery tabachin tree flowers, lilac jacaranda blossoms and lush tropical plants while proud peacocks strut among sculptures from renowned Costa Rican-born Mexican artist Francisco Zúñiga and colorful macaws watch from their perches.

The serene scene all plays out within a courtyard garden encircled by a colonial-style hacienda where 23 plush suites artfully adorned with antique-inspired accents exhibit an Old World charm that makes you feel right at home.

Fittingly located in the center of Cuernavaca, or “the city of eternal spring,” this verdant Mexican hacienda offers a tranquil escape from the bustle of everyday life. Boasting a storied restaurant, impeccably kept gardens and a treasure trove of Mexican artworks, Las Mañanitas Hotel Garden Restaurant & Spa is a paradise for art lovers — and those simply looking to unplug.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Las Mañanitas’ onsite restaurant has been a mainstay of the luxury hotel since its inception in 1955. Stop in for expertly prepared Mexican and international cuisine, including red snapper and tortilla soup (a staple since the hotel opened in 1955) complemented by garden views.
  • The hotel’s artfully curated grounds were inspired by Japanese gardens that founder Robert Krause encountered on his travels. Krause spent years cultivating his own lush courtyard with the help of local landscape architects. You will want to linger in this beautiful green space.
  • During his time as hotelier, Krause became friends with several notable Mexican and Latin American artists of the muralism movement, inspiring him to decorate his Cuernavaca hotel with their works. Look for pieces from Horacio Rentería, Alfredo Salce and José Luis Cuevas, among many others.
  • Thanks to its secluded location,Las Mañanitas Hotel Garden Restaurant & Spa has hosted its fair share of famous faces. Princess Maria Beatrice of Savoy, former President Jimmy Carter and Harrison Ford have all enjoyed the luxury hotel’s hospitality.
  • Just in case the sparkling garden pool isn't serene enough, the eight-room Spa Orlane Paris by Las Mañanitas will whisk you away to a world of Zen. It’s Latin America’s only Orlane-branded spa.

The Rooms

  • Las Mañanitas Hotel Garden Restaurant & Spa’s rooms feature richly hued antique wooden furniture, traditional terracotta-tiled floors and colonial-style headboards for an inviting Old World ambiance.
  • The historical feel of the hacienda is further enhanced by softly lit hallways lined with Mexican folk art.
  • Make the most of your serene surroundings and stay in one of the eight Garden Suites. In addition to a fireplace and separate bathtub, each suite boasts a garden-facing terrace and direct access to the pool.
