The Lodge at Pebble Beach

A historic stay where the world’s best golfers play
VERIFIED LUXURY

Distinguished by its spectacular oceanside setting and proximity to the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Lodge at Pebble Beach is a dream for golfers. You’ll see it upon arriving to the lobby, which affords a stunning view of the 18th hole and the sparkling Stillwater Cove behind it.

There’s a lot more to 1919 hotel than golf, though. You can spend the day soaking in the sun by the heated pool at The Beach & Tennis Club or taking a horseback ride on the same grounds where Elizabeth Taylor’s National Velvet was filmed.

The views of the coastline from the picturesque property, including Carmel Beach, Point Lobos and the mountains of Big Sur in the distance, are some of the most dynamic in all of California. And the rooms, with their big windows and outdoor space (whether a ground-floor patio or a second-story balcony) bring that outside beauty in.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • For many, a stay at The Lodge at Pebble Beach comes with an opportunity to play golf at Pebble Beach Golf Links, arguably the best public course in the United States. The scenic, cliff-side greens have hosted six U.S. Opens (and will host the 2027 tournament) and is the setting for the annual AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which pairs professional golfers with celebrities from sports, music, television and film.
  • With wind-sculpted Monterey cypress trees and rocky headlands above the bright blue Pacific Ocean, Pebble Beach, a gated resort community, offers up some of the most beautiful coastal scenery on the California coast.
  • There’s enough non-golfing activities to keep you busy for days. Try horseback riding along the coast through the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center.
  • Perched right above scenic Stillwater Cove, The Beach & Tennis Club has a tennis pavilion, a fitness center, a restaurant and a heated outdoor swimming pool on a sundeck.
  • The Lodge has several dining options from the Pebble Beach Market, where you can grab a sandwich for a picnic, to the more upscale seafood-focused Stillwater Bar & Grill.

Things to Know

  • When you make a reservation for The Lodge, be sure to also secure a tee time, if you are interested in playing on the fabled greens.
  • If you fly into Monterey Airport, Pebble Beach will provide free transportation to The Lodge. Also, while at Pebble Beach, a complimentary shuttle service runs you back and forth between The Lodge and The Inn at Spanish Bay on the other end of Pebble Beach.
  • Guests of The Lodge get make appointments at sister property Casa Palmero’s Five-Star The Spa at Pebble Beach.
  • The Lodge is known for its impeccable service. It begins two weeks before your arrival when an email arrives in your inbox from Pebble Beach’s Special Services that will allow staff to personalize your experience and secure any reservations to use facilities on the resort.
  • Explore the region outside of Pebble Beach — the coastal hamlet of Carmel-by-the-Sea, the rugged beauty of Big Sur, the rustic wine country of Carmel Valley are all great suggestions — by signing up for a two-hour, complimentary Lexus test drive.

The Rooms

  • All of the rooms are light, bright and airy to showcase the stellar outdoor scenery. Each also has a patio or balcony to further take in views of the private gardens, golf course or Stillwater Cove.
  • Minibars provide complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Bigger groups should consider renting one of the two Fairway One Cottages at the Monterey hotel. The Eastwood and Palmer Cottages each have a 1,000-square-foot living room, a terrace with a fire pit and views of the 1st hole.

The Restaurants

  • The luxury hotel has five restaurants, offering everything from a cozy pub experience (The Tap Room) to shared plates and specialty drinks (The Terrace Lounge).
  • Stillwater Bar & Grill highlights the sustainable, reasonably sourced seafood of the California coast in dishes like Dungeness crab and local Monterey Bay red abalone.
  • The Lodge’s most casual restaurant, The Bench, serves cuisine cooked in a wood-fired oven. Try to secure one of the outdoor fire tables on the patio overlooking Pebble Beach Golf Links’ 18th hole.
