1 Hotel Nashville

Nashville’s eco-friendly escape
VERIFIED LUXURY

1 Hotel Nashville offers something different for Music City visitors, eschewing bright lights and country music stars for living artwork and natural touches that represent the wilder side of Tennessee.

In keeping with the 1 Hotels ethos, the Nashville outpost (the eighth for the brand) marries sustainability with luxury to create something unique in its urban surroundings. The building’s exterior is blanketed in ivy, introducing a Great Smoky Mountains-inspired green-and-brown color palette that continues throughout the 215-room hotel. Reclaimed wood and stone feature prominently, as do other locally sourced offerings found at signature restaurant 1 Kitchen.

If an eco-friendly ethos and stunning design details aren’t enough to tempt a stay, 1 Hotel Nashville’s prime location across from Music City Center and walking distance from the Country Music Hall of Fame might just seal the deal.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Before tackling 1 Hotel Nashville, the design team insisted on driving around Tennessee to get a feel for the state’s rural authenticity. This attention to detail can be seen in the reclaimed wood front doors, which are darker at the bottom and lighten toward the top — a nod to the water-stained look of log cabins affected by the state’s regular flooding.
  • Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword here. The Nashville hotel has replaced single-use plastics in guest rooms with glass water bottles and a filtered tap for water, installed its own glass recycling system and swapped out wire hangers for recycled paper alternatives, among other initiatives.
  • After a long night out in Music City, a treatment at the serene Bamford Wellness Spa is just the cure. Of course, the spa uses its own line of natural and organic skincare products in soothing treatments ranging from a Himalayan salt stone massage to a pumpkin enzyme facial.
  • As if you need another reason to fall in love with this Nashville gem, the eco-chic hotel welcomes four-legged friends as warmly as its celebrity clientele.
  • Headed up by Top Chef contender Chris Crary, 1 Kitchen prioritizes local and seasonal ingredients sourced from within a 200-mile radius. Get a taste of Tennessee in dishes like spring garlic and hominy hummus or an Appalachian heritage breed lamb T-bone sourced from Freedom Run Farms.

The Look

  • Before setting foot inside 1 Hotel Nashville, you’ll notice its silhouette. The luxury hotel is draped in 56,000 individual hedera helixivy plants that serve not just as decoration, but also help to regulate the building’s temperature by shielding the glass walls from the sun.
  • Interiors imagined by architecture and design firm Workshop/APD celebrate Nashville through the use of native greenery, reclaimed wood and nods to local culture, like leather and wood accents that pay homage to Tennessee’s tradition of blacksmithing.
  • Inspired by the Cumberland River Valley, the Nashville hotel’s lobby makes a bold statement, anchored by weather-worn boulders that serve as a reception desk. Behind reception, you’ll find textured screens that evoke the patterns of flood lines and tidal marks.
  • Rooms feature an evolved farmhouse aesthetic. Bedside lamps modeled from blackened steel and glass emulate rustic lanterns, wire-brushed oak floors look lovingly worn in and custom-made white oak poster beds drew inspiration from fence posts.
