Smyth Tribeca

A sleek retreat in Tribeca

Within moments of walking into the 14-story Smyth Tribeca, you will want to set your bags down and start lounging in the inviting wood-paneled lobby. Take a seat and warm up by the inviting fireplace or opt to linger at a table at one of the inviting nooks.

If you want to add a libation to the modern, cozy scene, head to the glowing bar. Order a classic cocktail and soak up the vibe.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • At the top of the boutique hotel are the penthouses, which open up to beautiful terraces. They are quiet, charming garden oases in this bustling city.
  • Located in the heart of Tribeca, it has numerous subways stations nearby. Plus, it's a quick walk to Brookfield Place, One World Trade Center and its observatory, Soho boutiques and Tribeca’s trendy restaurants.
  • The lobby bar draws you in with its glowing backlit wall. It’s a sleek spot for a glass of champagne, wine or something stronger.
  • Smyth Tribeca has a stylish new look. Whether you linger in the lounge or head up to your room, the gray-heavy décor remains soothing and modern. All spaces feature black-and-white archival prints and photographs of vintage New York and old Hollywood, an homage to the Tribeca Film Festival and owner Larry Korman's film interests (he's a sponsor of the famous festival).

Things to Know

  • When your feet tire of walking (and they will in New York), you can always forgo hoofing it and take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary car service, an amenity that covers a 10-block radius.
  • The lobby-level bar has a no-tipping policy.
  • While the luxury hotel has a gym, you may want to take your workout outside and walk or jog along Hudson River Park, the nation’s longest riverfront park.

The Rooms

  • All rooms have Chromecast on-demand programming, but the contemporary, sophisticated Platinum Collection accommodations also come with Amazon Echos.
    • Bathrooms are done up in Carrara marble and have walk-in, glass-enclosed rain showers.
    • For the best accommodations, opt for the penthouses (called Specialty Suites), which offer separate, spacious living rooms as well as expansive leafy terraces overlooking Tribeca and Soho.
