The Terrace Club at Busena

Recharge at an Okinawan wellness resort
VERIFIED LUXURY
The Terrace Club at Busena brings another level of calm and luxury to the beachfront Busena Terrace Resort. A focus on health and relaxation makes the Terrace Club perfect for those who wish to recharge. The longevity of Okinawans is renowned, and a combination of tailor-made spa treatments, fine dining and exemplary service will have you feeling years younger.

Indulge in an array of experiences exclusive to Terrace Club guests — dine at the restaurant, enjoy a cocktail at the bar or just lounge in one of the cabanas on the private stretch of beach. Or head for the lively main resort and explore the wide range of eateries and shops.

Of course, for the utmost relaxation, you will want to indulge in Wellness Thalasso’s traditional offerings (massages, yoga, facials, etc.) or its unique ocean-inspired treatments that include water workouts and weightless therapies in a special seawater pool.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Try the locally sourced ingredients that give Okinawans such vigor. Look out for traditional favorites like green papaya, mozuku seaweed, Okinawan spinach and goya (bitter gourd) at the breakfast buffet.
  • After a consultation with a therapist, you’ll have opportunity to choose a customized series of treatments to rejuvenate your body and soul at Wellness Thalasso spa.
  • Okinawa is surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. There’s a scuba diving center onsite for the adventurous, but you can also view the sea life at the underwater observatory or take a glass-bottomed boat tour, all available at the main resort.
  • The rooms offer delightful Okinawan touches, including complimentary sesame biscotti snacks, local brown sugar and bougainvillea bath salts.
  • Easily accessible from the northern end of the expressway, the hotel is also a great base to explore local sights. The Churaumi Aquarium and Nakijin Castle are less than an hour away, while Cape Manza is a 20-minute drive from the resort.
Things to Know
  • The Terrace Club does not allow children under the age of 13. This helps maintain an atmosphere of calm throughout this small corner of the resort.
  • The main outdoor pool is closed November through March, but the heated Thalasso spa pool remains open all year. The Okinawa hotel provides coverings for those with visible tattoos.
  • The hotel is busiest during the Japanese holidays of Golden Week (end of April to early May), Obon (mid-August) and New Year’s Eve. Book well in advance if you plan to stay during these dates.
  • As a guest of The Terrace Club, you’ll also enjoy access to all the facilities at the main resort, including the pools, tennis courts and beach.
  • In line with the focus on health, smoking is prohibited in all facilities on the property, including guest rooms and balconies.
The Rooms
  • The beach-chic rooms feature a cream color palette and wooden furniture with large sliding doors that allow the ocean breezes to flow inside.
  • In Japan, couples tend to prefer side-by-side twin beds (also called Hollywood twin), and that’s what you’ll find in each room at the luxury hotel. No rooms offer king mattresses.
  • The two-person lounger on the balcony is the place to relax and watch the sunset. Ocean-view rooms offer bonus vistas of the calm azure waters of Nago Bay.
  • Rooms have a Nespresso machine and a selection of herbal teas. The 47-inch LCD television has Japanese and some English cable channels, or you can simply request a movie to pop into your Blu-ray player.
The Restaurants
  • The resort’s signature restaurant, Fine Dining, is available only to guests staying at The Terrace Club at Busena, serving dishes designed with health and wellness in mind. You’ll find plates blending French, Italian and Okinawan influences.
  • Thalasso Café is in the spa and turns out light dishes, fruit juices and herbal teas in relaxed atmosphere.
  • The Library Lounge and Bar is an elegant spot to enjoy a nightcap complete with views of Nago Bay. Afternoon tea is offered here as well.
  • Maroad is the lounge at the center of the main Busena Terrace hotel. It’s a great place to escape from the sun and enjoy English afternoon tea with an elegant selection of cakes, scones and beverages.
