Pendry Newport Beach

Stylish sophistication in Orange County
VERIFIED LUXURY

Fashion Island has a new style icon in its midst thanks to the grand opening of Pendry Newport Beach in September 2023. With art deco-inspired interiors, a sleek steakhouse with a SoCal spin and Orange County’s largest event space, this newcomer makes quite a first impression.

It comes as no surprise that the luxury hotel is already a hit among the local crowd. The debut marks the third Southern California property for Pendry Hotels & Resorts, proving that the brand knows what Californians are craving. Among the highlights are an abundance of ocean-view accommodations and a sparkling pool equipped with a bar serving refreshing cocktails and Baja-flavored bites. But, of course, style is king here. Garden-themed interiors and floor-to-ceiling windows bring the California sunshine to the 295 guest rooms.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Style and substance come together in perfect harmony at Pendry Newport Beach thanks to the talented touch of luxury design firm Studio Munge. The property’s garden-inspired interiors draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape, bringing a fashionable sense of Zen to the newly opened hotel.
  • The Newport Beach retreat reaches luxurious new heights thanks to its exclusive members club — a first for the Pendry brand. The Elwood Club boasts its own private wing complete with a members-only restaurant, bar and cabaret club.
  • Accommodations are wonderfully spacious, starting at a generous 400 square feet and all featuring luxe marble bathrooms stocked with MiN New York bath amenities. Make the most of your stay by requesting a room or suite with an ocean view.
  • You’ll find no shortage of indulgences on the menu at Spa Pendry. Among the sanctuary’s more exclusive offerings are a few brand-firsts, including facials featuring a seven-in-one MediSpa machine (available in silver, gold, and platinum-tiered packages) and cryotherapy treatments.
  • Take advantage of the area’s typically sunny weather by borrowing one of the hotel’s e-bikes to explore the nearby sights. Fashion Island shopping center, Balboa Island and beachside enclave Corona del Mar are all less than a 20-minute bike ride from the hotel.

The Restaurants

  • The classic steakhouse gets a Southern California twist at Set Steak & Sushi. Savor indulgent surf and turf delights such as a 40-ounce Australian wagyu tomahawk and an Ultimate Caviar Tower packed with lobster and oysters beneath starlit skies on the garden terrace of this breezy eatery.
  • Refreshing Baja-inspired fare is the order of the day at Tree Shack Pool Bar & Grill. Fresh fruit, citrusy ceviche and tantalizing tacos are a few of the mouthwatering delights you can nibble on between dips in the luxury hotel’s sparkling pool.
  • Soak up some Southern California sun while savoring breakfast at Pendry Newport Beach. Morning meals here range from light (avocado toast or yogurt with housemade granola) to indulgent (crab Benedict and seasonal French toast, anyone?), though all are served on a sun-dappled terrace that’s perfect for lingering long after you’ve finished your coffee.
  • Step back in time when you sip on an espresso martini in the olive green-hued Bar Pendry. Art deco-influenced interiors complete with strategically placed greenery and a wicker room divider provide an air of elegant familiarity that will make even the most seasoned traveler feel right at home.
