Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal

Modern meets classic in Paris' Palais Royal
VERIFIED LUXURY
Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal occupies a privileged location at the center of one Paris’ most illustrious historic districts, but this grand dame is now thoroughly modern thanks to a major renovation finished in 2013. The plush, modern-meets-classic design is by Pierre-Yves Rochon, who is also behind the look of The Savoy in London and Four Seasons Hotel Firenze in Florence.

Up-to-date amenities will accommodate anyone looking for a full-on grand Parisian hotel experience, including the intimate Holidermie Spa, a restaurant with a quiet terrace, and a fitness center with a hammam. The can’t-be-beat location overlooks the lovely Palais Royal and its gardens and the hotel is within walking distance of the Louvre and the boutiques that line tony Rue Saint-Honroé.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Paintings, sculptures and other artworks from the owner’s private collection are placed throughout the public areas and rooms, along with a series of contemporary black-and-white framed photographs of the iconic neighborhood’s historic architecture, boutiques and museums.
  • The lower-level fitness room at the Palais Royal hotel has Technogym trainer machines available 24 hours a day and a large, mosaic-tiled Turkish bath.
  • Just off the fitness center on the lower level, you'll find Holidermie Spa and the Noir by Alexandry Costa hair salon.
  • The luxurious Paris hotel makes sure little ones feel welcome with Le Petit Prince products in the bathrooms, children’s menus and special amenities upon check-in.
Things to Know
  • A wrought-iron spiral staircase, all that remains of the 1781 fire that destroyed the Théâtre de Opéra that once stood here, wraps around a very modern luggage storeroom cleverly disguised as a large travel trunk.
  • Pets are pampered here with lamb or chicken mini-cupcakes upon arrival, plush beds and bowls in the rooms and even miniature dog-safe pastries for snacking on.
The Rooms
  • The Paris hotel’s 68 rooms are decorated with pale cream walls, black lacquer lamps, and touches of lime green, deep beige and lavender for a smart, timeless feel that is very much on-trend.
  • Most rooms are carpeted for added comfort, while the suites have pale oak floors and area rugs. Velvets, leathers and silks add a rich level of comfort.
  • Amenities in the rooms are plentiful, as expected, with complimentary high-speed Internet, multimedia connections (iPhone, iPad, USB and HDMI), Diptyque toiletries, complimentary shoe shine and in-room climate control.
  • While many of the rooms have balconies with views over the Palais Royal or the cobblestone courtyard, the largest can be found in the Panoramic Suite, which overlooks the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Coeur Basilica, and has its own dining room and private elevator.
The Restaurants
  • Open all day long, Café 52 serves healthy, organic dishes, with various vegetarian options amid a warm backdrop of terracotta, dark blue, rattan and wood.
  • At the bar, sip on beauty cocktails topped with collagen or CBD oil.
