L’Hôtel du Collectionneur is a stunning example of Art Deco elegance in an impressive building located across from the Parc Monceau in Paris’ 8th arrondissement, not far from the Champs-Élysées. Named in honor of furniture and interior designer Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann. Ruhlmann built the famous Art Deco pavilion at the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris that he called “L’Hôtel du Collectionneur” (A Collector’s House).

Today, the namesake hotel is one of the largest in Paris with more than 18,000 square feet of banquet halls and meeting rooms, and 478 luxurious rooms and suites. The luxury hotel also counts a private collection of Art Deco pieces, ranging from sculptures to paintings. There’s a ’30s-influenced, transatlantic liner-inspired interior design concept flowing about of the hotel, Restaurant Le Safran, Purple Bar and Mosaic Spa. All of these elements work together to reinvigorate the splendor of a bygone era in Paris.

  • L’Hôtel du Collectionneur is located in the heart of the 8th arrondissement, just across the street from the Parc Monceau, one of the most attractive outdoor spaces in Paris. Surrounded on all four sides by gorgeous displays of Parisian architecture, the park also offers jogging trails and a beautiful vintage carousel for kids.
  • L’Hôtel du Collectionneur itself is located on a small side street, keeping the noise levels to a minimum.
  • The Paris hotel is within walking distance of the famous shopping Avenue des Champs-Élysées and rue Saint Honoré, as well as monuments such as La Madeleine, Place de la Concorde, Jacquemart-André Museum, the Grand Palais and the Gare Saint Lazare train station, making a day trip to Giverny or Normandy a piece of cake.

  • If you plan to visit the Paris hotel during the fall, you’ll still be in for a pleasant time as you’ll be able to watch the leaves change colors and taste the special season drinks at Purple Bar.
  • The patio is also a draw in the winter, when the luxury hotel puts it under a “bubble” so you can dine under a dome in a decadent gold and black space while sipping champagne and looking out into the lit-up courtyard (November to March).
The Rooms
  • Spread across seven floors, the rooms at L’Hôtel du Collectionneur are designed in the spirit of cruise ship cabins from a 1930s luxury liner.
  • Each of the 478 rooms is decorated with furniture made from Macassar ebony with gold inlays that feature recreations of Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann’s etchings on them.
  • Every bathroom features silk-screened glass doors with Art Deco motifs, while jade granite countertops sit against black granite cubist-style stands.
  • Splashier quarters such as the presidential suite include balconies that overlook the Eiffel Tower and the interior Andalusian Patio, while the Paris hotel’s Luxury Eiffel suite affords breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and unlimited access to the executive lounge and private terrace.
The Restaurants
  • L’Hôtel du Collectionneur offers two dining options — Purple Bar and Restaurant Le Safran.
  • Purple Bar is a cocktail bar with a nice selection of gourmet snacks and light meals for lunch and dinner.
  • With fresh salads, classic burgers and rich foie gras, Purple Bar has something for hunger pangs any time of the day.
  • The extensive cocktail menu changes seasonally, but certain lounge classics — the Red Snapper is the hotel’s take on the Bloody Mary and its famous rum-based Zombie was popularized at the 1939 New York World’s Fair — remain constant.
  • Le Safran is the consistent onsite culinary option for those occasions that call for a bit more pomp. Its kitchen presents contemporary French cuisine that's ideal for anniversary celebrations, birthday dinners or romantic nights out.
