The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico's beachside nature retreat
VERIFIED LUXURY

A tranquil feeling envelops you from the moment you step into Casa Grande, a stately plantation-style house that serves as The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort’s lobby. From there, a culture of impeccable service permeates every aspect of your stay at this glamorous tropical paradise.

Located on a former coconut farm, The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort sits on 483 pristine acres and two miles of secluded beach with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The grounds continue to be a top draw. Observe the local wildlife that makes the verdant surroundings their home. Active types can choose from golf, biking and an array of water sports with an indulgent seaside setting, while the spa is a wellness haven.

As the sun sets, staff and guests gather for a traditional champagne sabering and toast, a festive showing of genuine Puerto Rican hospitality. Coqui frogs chirp their nightly tunes, and the sky transitions from blue to pink to black, making way for a sea of constellations that twinkle above the sparkling Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Nestled between El Yunque National Forest and Espíritu Santo River State Preserve, the luxury resort sits on 483 exquisite acres in Rio Grande. Throughout the sprawling grounds, you will find two miles of secluded beach, 73 acres of lakes and 3.5 miles of biking and walking trails.
  • Tee off on the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course, which sits against a dramatic backdrop of both the turquoise sea and majestic El Yunque rainforest.
  • For a relaxing stay, sun yourself at the pool and private beach or indulge in pampering with standout treatments at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa.
  • Because of its vigilant commitment to conserving the environment, The St. Regis Bahia Beach is the only gold-certified Audubon Signature Sanctuary in the Caribbean. An in-house marine biologist offers nature and birding tours throughout the grounds.
  • To celebrate the day’s transition into night, The St. Regis Bar hosts a champagne sabering ritual every evening at 6 p.m. While their parents savor bubbly libations, children are invited to participate in a koi feeding ritual outside.

  • For sand-side bites, stop by Beach Club by Jose Enrique, where authentic Puerto Rican fare is the order of the day, or Beach Shack for smoothies, coffee and casual cuisine.
  • A captivating mural, The Long Awaited Voyage by Puerto Rican artist Arnaldo Roche Rabell, hangs above The St. Regis Bar. This elegant space is known for its locally inspired Encanto Mary, an inventive version of the classic cocktail that incorporates plantains and spicy peppers.
