Thompson Seattle

A sophisticated, vintage vibe in Seattle
VERIFIED LUXURY
Thompson Seattle tows the line between old and new with its masterful design and well-placed locale. The hotel manages to be quaint yet sleek with a style that balances modern city life and rustic Pacific Northwest surroundings with vintage midcentury modern aesthetics blended with a log cabin or farmhouse vibe and perfectly worn furnishings.

Carefully curated lobby books cover tree houses, cabins and other similar outdoor lifestyle subjects, while earthy pottery sits alongside modern metallic sculptures on the stark black wall shelves. Masculine with touches of the Northwest, the Thompson’s history as a nightlife brand is apparent in the forest greens, midnight blues and velvety textures seen throughout the hotel.

With telling indications of Seattle-based Olson Kundig’s hand in designing the building and close proximity to Pike Place Market, Thompson Seattle embraces the bustle of its modern yet historical surroundings while also creating a relaxing haven.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Large windows are featured throughout the property, from the meeting spaces, to the rooms and suites, even in the restaurant. They flood the hotel with pleasant natural light.
  • Rooms on the seventh floor and above have unobstructed water views, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the stunning vistas over your morning cup of coffee.
  • Beyond the usual minibar suspects, Thompson Seattle’s honor bar includes local craft beer and spa masks.
  • Your stay may never be the same twice. Because of the design of the 12-story glass building, 30 different room floor plans were created.
  • Thompson Seattle occupies a highly central (and walkable) location, just blocks from popular cafés, shops and restaurants as well as the waterfront museums, local landmarks and nightlife.
Things to Know
  • Cars are valet only here at this Olson Kundig-designed hotel. When you’re ready to go out for a drive, just text the number on the card that the valet provides you.
  • Want to order room service, available 24 hours a day, without talking to anyone? The hotel staff regularly texts with guests about needs and requests, if that’s your preferred mode of communication.
  • There is no spa at the Seattle hotel, however in-room treatments are available through various local providers.
The Rooms
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows perfectly frame the Puget Sound and nearby islands in water-view rooms and offer bustling vistas of First Avenue or Stewart Street in city-view accommodations. We’re partial to the Water Corner Studio and Water View Studio Suite, which afford double the vistas.
  • Brooklyn-based perfume brand D.S. & Durga graces the hotel’s exclusive bathroom products.
  • Rooms feel like home with hardwood floors, a calming white and gray color palette and modern artwork.
  • The plush beds in every room and suite are dressed in custom 400-thread-count Sferra linens for maximum comfort.
  • Smart TVs enable you to stream shows from your iPad.
The Restaurant
  • Leave your phone behind for dinner at Thompson Seattle's chic new restaurant Conversation. Designed around the art of meal-time chit-chat, this recently debuted eatery boasts plenty of natural light through wall-to-wall windows overlooking bustling downtown and sleek yet casual (and comfortable) chairs that might just remind you of your own dining room.
  • Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week (and brunch on weekends), Conversation's menu is inspired by the dishes from around the globe. Plates might include black cod and Tokyo turnips, Manila clams, and scallops with Israeli couscous.
  • Head up to The Nest, the luxury hotel’s rooftop bar and lounge for amazing waterfront views complete with craft cocktails and bar bites.
