Silver Ray

Silversea's sleek beauty redefines small-ship intimacy
VERIFIED LUXURY
Silversea Silver Ray, the second ship in the company’s groundbreaking Nova fleet, continues to elevate the standard of luxury cruising. Its innovative horizontal layout offers breathtaking sea views, thanks in large part to expansive glass walls throughout the interior. While the distinctive design of a Nova-class ship is immediately apparent, there are also more subtle features (whirlpool baths, walk-in closets) that make Silver Ray stand out.

The ship features spacious and elegantly appointed suites, which are the sole accommodation category available. Each unit includes a veranda and a personal butler. With a capacity of 728 passengers, the ship maintains an impressive nearly-one-to-one passenger-to-crew ratio. Guests enjoy an abundance of choices with more than 10 dining venues and eight bars — and they also have the option to order complimentary caviar and champagne at any time. It’s extravagances like these that suggest Silver Ray is primed to shine an even more luxurious light on the Silversea brand.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Every cabin is provided with a personal butler, who, along with stocking your minifridge according to personal preference and drawing baths, is on hand to deliver gratis blinis, caviar and other treats on demand.
  • Silver Ray suites start at a spacious 357 square feet. Each unit includes posh details such as plush beds with 400-thread count Rivolta Carmignani linens, a pillow menu and a private veranda.
  • The well-equipped fitness center and complimentary access to a steam room and sauna (with ocean views) add a welcome wellness element to the at-sea experience. If a true pampering session is in order, spend the day at the Roman-inspired Otium Spa. The treatment menu includes honey and argan oil massages, Grown Alchemist facials and deep-conditioning hair treatments.
  • The Silver Ray, like all other Nova-class ships, is distinguished by a unique, asymmetric design. This layout creates separate decks for suites and public areas, with airy, light-filled sea-facing spaces offering 270-degree views that are enhanced by the 43,000 square feet of outdoor glass.
  • Passengers will find plenty of engaging activities while at sea. From cooking classes hosted at S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) Lab and wine tastings to dance classes and shuffleboard tournaments, there’s something for every kind of passenger.

The Restaurants

  • Gourmands should consider indulging in the ship’s high-end French fine dining restaurant, La Dame. The flaky, buttery fougasse flatbread is a memorable starter while Maine lobster and smoked tomato coulis served with a rich Parmigiano Reggiano sauce are can’t-miss selections from the tasting menu.
  • Similar to La Dame, Kaiseki requires a supplemental fee; however, the contemporary Japanese dinner menu, with highlights like wagyu beef and lobster with miso and yuzu butter, justifies the cost.
  • La Terrazza offers an exceptional mid-day buffet featuring a variety of options, including freshly rolled sushi, prime rib, housemade gelato and the occasional lavish seafood spread. For dinner, the restaurant showcases Italian cuisine with a modern twist.
  • The S.A.L.T. Kitchen provides passengers with an additional way to connect to the destinations visited while onboard through a changing menu inspired by local cuisine, flavors and ingredients.
