M is the signature restaurant from Columbus restaurant powerhouse Cameron Mitchell. The eatery is also known around town as one of the most splurge-worthy dining options in the city. Here, couples gather for a celebratory dinner while regulars (typically, residents from the neighboring high-end, highrise Miranova) take a seat near the bar and the city’s most powerful gather to talk business at one of the tables. M isn’t the kind of place most pop into for a casual cocktail or bar bite. Diners come here with intention, and what they wear reflects as much. Make no mistake, the Columbus restaurant is the place you go to make an impression, so dress and behave accordingly.
Our Inspector's Highlights
• The feel at M is fine dining, yes, but it's not pretentious.

• The restaurant is just south of the Scioto River, which runs through downtown Columbus. Miranova offers some of the best views of the newly finished Scioto Mile, nearby Bicentennial Park and the city skyline. If the weather’s nice, grab a seat on M’s iron-fenced patio to take in the views.

• The feast for the eyes continues in M’s artfully plated contemporary American dishes influenced by Pacific Rim flavors, as well as the cocktails — such as the Black Orchid, which is served with a real orchid frozen inside a large ice cube.

• M’s new bottled cocktails such as the Aviation, a libation made with carbonated Bombay Sapphire, crème Yvette, Luxardo and fresh lemon juice, are a real treat and a great way to get the evening started.
Things to Know
• M is located on the first floor of 2 Miranova Place (there are two buildings in the Miranova grouping — one is high-end condos, the other is corporate offices. M is located in the latter).

• Valet parking is available through the main Miranova driveway, with the restaurant just beyond the main doors. You can also self-park in the adjoining garage for an hourly rate.

• At happy hour, M attracts a young and old business crowd — the 20- to 30-somethings gather in the lounge seating around the bar enjoying $5 wines and martinis alongside sushi and mini Wagyu burgers with steak fries. Established business folk gather at the Columbus restaurant, too, but they prefer more private seating on the patio or in the main dining room.
The Food
• Come dinner time, the business chatter is turned down as significant others join for seafood leaning appetizers and hearty dinners of rack of lamb or Chilean sea bass.

• M offers a completely gluten-free friendly menu with sushi, a selection of appetizers including foie, eight different entree options, and plenty of tasty sides.

• Must order items on the regular dinner menu include the Hawaiian-style ahi poke with sugar snap peas, pineapple, and taro root chips; the macaroni and cheese with black truffles, and the veal mignon with asiago crepe and shiitake mushroom sauce.

• The craft cocktail scene is booming in Columbus and bar chef Cris Dehlavi is one of the best-known cocktail minds in town. Ordering off the seasonal drink menu is always a safe bet, and it’s one of the many things keeping a young crowd circulating through the establishment.
The Look
• The Columbus restaurant is chic in a retro, ’90s-South-Beach kind of way where lighting sets the ambience.

• Rotating neon purple and blue lights illuminate the centerpiece backlit bar and sheer white curtains hung from a soaring ceiling.

• Glowing cones seemingly rise from the black granite bar top.
