Modern SoCal fine dining
Celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian makes his L.A. debut inside the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Montage Beverly Hills with Georgie. His modern American cuisine gets a California twist with locally sourced ingredients and seasonal SoCal influences.

Food Network star Zakarian pops in occasionally to make sure things are up to his standards, but there’s not much concern about operations going awry with executive chef Wilfrid Hocquet at the helm. Born and trained in the South of France, Hocquet has a resume that reads like an all-star culinary roll call. He started his career at La Palme d’Or in Cannes, spent eight years working for chef Alain Ducasse and then for Daniel Boulud at New York’s Five-Star Daniel.

Though this Beverly Hills restaurant boasts a fine-dining pedigree, Georgie’s whimsical garden setting and playful cocktails remind you that this is a place to loosen your tie come happy hour.
Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Opened in 2016, Georgie has a casual yet still sophisticated vibe. The banquettes, café tables and midcentury modern furniture and hardwood floors provide just the atmosphere for a convivial lunch, a romantic dinner or a business powwow.
  • If you’re heading to this restaurant for dinner, opt for the tasting menu — a somewhat hush-hush offering. Not only is it a great way to sample the chef’s talent, it’s also quite reasonable at $85 for six courses, including dessert.
  • For the perfect pairing or a special occasion bottle, ask for Oscar Chinchilla, the hotel’s passionate beverage manager and sommelier extraordinaire.
  • The Garden Bar, accented in chic tropical prints and gray-blue shades, adjacent to Georgie is a cozy spot for a pre-dinner cocktail. The menu riffs on the classics, such as the 007 Vesper Martini made with both gin and vodka as well as Lillet Blanc, shaken, not stirred.
  • After a massive makeover by New York-based Gachot Studio, the new Los Angeles restaurant features tropical greenery, art-deco-inspired brass fixtures and mirrors, white oak floors, mahogany chairs and soft blue and green tones throughout.

Things to Know

  • There is complimentary two-hour parking in the underground garage off of Beverly Boulevard. Otherwise, Georgie offers paid valet parking.
  • Georgie is named after Geoffrey Zakarian’s young son. You’ll notice original artwork by George and his sisters adorning the walls of the Beverly Hills restaurant.
  • Montage Beverly Hills’ signature eatery is an all-day dining venue, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
  • A chic, casual happy hour is available at the Georgie Bar each afternoon from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Discounted drinks, a menu of small bites and a martini cart are a few of the not-to-be-missed highlights.

The Food

  • Due to chef Hocquet’s heritage and experience, the menu takes on a Southern French flair with specifically Provençal flavors. Expect a lot of lighter fare featuring Mediterranean ingredients and SoCal seasonal produce.
  • The lunch offerings are more casual than the dinner menu with a mix of sandwiches, salads, small plates, pastas and light seafood. Breakfast features standard American classics, including a few local specialties like avocado toast and huevos rancheros.
  • Standout dishes to try at dinner include pâté en croûte, Dungeness crab with cucumber, beet risotto and steamed maigre with saffron sauce.
  • A few offerings remain from the original Zakarian-designed menu. The legendary starter that regulars can’t get enough of is the fennel and za’atar housemade rolls served warm with a side of smoked honey butter.

The Drinks

  • Tableside martinis are the signature cocktail experience at the modern Americna restaurant. An elegant gold-trimmed bar cart is wheeled up and your preferred sip — whether it’s stirred or shaken — is made à la minuteand served in a frozen glass.
  • The wine menu features mostly French and California varietals, but don’t be shy about asking for something unusual — the Japanese vintages are worth a try.
  • Tuscan wine aficionados are in luck. Georgie is home to L.A.’s largest selection of Flaccianello varietals from 1994 to 2012.
  • Fresh juices made from California-sourced produce are available morning, noon and night on their own or as an added flavor boost to cocktails.
