Il Mulino New York

VERIFIED LUXURY
•The Miami outpost of the famed Il Mulino, Il Mulino New York may be located in the contemporary-chic Acqualina resort, but this sophisticated dining room is still devoted to old-fashioned service and hearty classic Italian dishes.

•Reminiscent of the original Greenwich Village establishment, the design is traditional with dim lighting, orangey-red carpets, tapestry wall hangings and cast-iron railings. There’s the requisite dark woodwork, wall sconces and a single rose on each white tablecloth table. To remind yourself you are still in Miami, ask for a seat on the terrace, where you’ll have a view of Acqualina’s pool and the Atlantic Ocean.

•Tuxedoed waiters serve the same upscale Italian cuisine (homemade pastas, tender meats, bruschetta) as its sister restaurants in a subdued, traditionally decorated dining room filled with white-linen-covered tables. An expansive wine list is dedicated to Italian bottles from around the country.

Things to Know
•When you’re thinking about dining at Il Mulino New York, it’s important to note that reservations are recommended, but they’re easy to make by calling the restaurant, booking online or, if you’re staying at Acqualina, having the concierge take care of things.

•This is a fine Italian restaurant, and the Italians, like many Europeans, simply don’t rush. Set aside a pretty big chunk of time for your meal. It’s a production, as is just about every meal in Italy, so be sure you are ready to eat for at least a couple of hours.

•The best tables at the restaurant are those along the windows that look out over the Mediterranean-style terrace. Or, if the weather is favorable — you have pretty good odds since it’s Miami — the tables on the terrace offer great views during the day.
