The Spa at the Inns of Aurora

Ayurvedic wellness in the Finger Lakes
VERIFIED LUXURY

Overlooking the glittering Cayuga Lake, The Spa at the Inns of Aurora offers a tranquil and luxurious place for pampering. The outside looks like a modern farmhouse with a bright-white exterior with black trim. But inside the space exudes comfortable wellness with clean lines and hues of royal blue, cream, copper and tawny brown. Sink into a comfortable padded teak chair under wicker pendant lights and sip a cup from the organic tea station as you await bliss. Or warm up in an Adirondack chair around the fire pit in the courtyard.

Holistic treatments range from aromatherapy massages and hydrating facials to reiki, body scrubs and therapeutic cupping. Book a service and enjoy the full splendor of the spa, or purchase a one-day pass, which gives you access to two hydrotherapy circuits and all the snacks to nibble on in between.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Make sure to sample the complimentary grazing table inside the café. Items include salads, soups, yogurt parfaits, fruit and energy bites. And beginning Spring 2024, new items will join an à la carte menu. There are plenty of places to sit, plus a fireplace where you can get cozy.
  • Find two hydrotherapy circuits, including a dry sauna, a steam room, a cold plunge and a hot indoor pool. The circuits revolve around using buoyancy, gentle pressure and heat transfer to help heal the body and mind. Start with the sauna and follow the flow to reap the benefits of hydrotherapy.
  • Soak in the outdoor pools and take in the serene beauty of the Finger Lakes. Each pool stays warm all year long, and there’s a heated bluestone terrace surrounding the area. The outdoor space also offers up gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding bucolic area.
  • For the ultimate wellness, try one of the multi-day retreats focused on you and healing the whole body. Each practice is inspired by the science of Ayurveda, which highlights using the right treatment at the right time for the right person.
  • Treatment rooms exude the farmhouse-chic aesthetic, too, complete with fireplaces, warm woods and abundant natural light.

The Treatments

  • Try the 80-minute abhyanga massage, a foundational body treatment in Ayurveda. The service traditionally features a four-handed massage, which you can request at the time of booking. But even if it's done with just two hands, the idea is to relax the body, cleanse the lymphatic system, increase blood flow and nourish the skin with warm oil.
  • Add cupping, aromatherapy, contrasting heat stones, a coating of anti-inflammatory arnica oil or a full-body dry brushing to any massage or body treatment.
  • Delve into Turkish wellness practices during the Red Flower Hammam Ritual. During the treatment, the body gets bathed in rich oils, exfoliants, natural clay and soothing butters and creams. Expect scents of lemon and coffee during the body scrub, followed by jasmine, quince, tangerine and cardamom.
  • When getting a pedicure and/or foot massage, make sure to include the Mangosteen Pro Peel, which penetrates the skin and improves skin texture.
