The Iridium Spa

An intimate sensory experience in Florence
VERIFIED LUXURY
With its trademark bridges, postcard-perfect side streets and storybook squares, Florence is a city that’s best explored on foot, but walking your way through a packed itinerary is a recipe for weariness: enter The Iridium Spa.

One of the city’s most exclusive wellness centers, the spa at The St. Regis Florence is a private, luxurious place to unwind after a tiring day. The petite spa doesn’t lack for luxurious touches, especially with a wide range of lavish treatments built around proven skincare and relaxation methods.

Once inside the Florence spa, don’t expect any clinical white tiles and generic surrounds — this place is an original. Composed of two private treatment cabins that can be booked for as long as you like, the spa is ultra-discreet.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Offering eight different types of facials and 14 types of massages, this Four-Star spa avoids overwhelming its guests by sticking with a relatively simple list of treatment options.
  • The Iridium Spa is one of the very few places where you are able to purchase the exclusive My Blend by Clarins skin-care system, products created with a philosophy built around the idea that your skin’s needs change as your daily life does: seasonal shifts, health or stress issues, lifestyle changes, pregnancy all have an influence on its balance.
  • Spa suites include massaging hydra-jet bath spiked with essential oils, making for an extravagant, yet calming soak.
Things to Know
  • Plan your visit during January or February when the streets are relatively quiet so your time outside of the spa is just as calm.
  • You will want to avoid visiting Florence during August, when most Italians shut down to enjoy their summer.
  • Guests must be over the age of 12 to use the Florence spa’s services and facilities.
  • From the lighting to the volume of music, everything can be adjusted to suit your preference.
The Treatments
  • Destress with the Decontracting Massage, focused on easing tension and muscle tightness and best for those who want a firm, vigorous rub.
  • If a light touch is more your style, try the Hawaiian lomi lomi treatment, a holistic therapy that incorporates movements inspired by ocean waves.
  • On the hunt for the perfect facial? Get spoiled with the Soin Visage Deluxe Capital Lumière, the spa’s signature two-hour treatment that aims to restore a youthful glow, with the added bonus of a hand, legs and feet massage.
The Facilities
  • Before you sneak off to the spa, indulge in an aperitif or light beverage in the opulent Winter Garden restaurant/lounge (just steps from the Iridium) to get you in the mood for a sensory-rich experience.
  • A small, attentive staff will ease you in to a relaxing ritual with a hot tea or sparkling water, leaving you to prep for pampering. Communicate your preferences without any qualms: Inside the suites, lighting, music volume and room temperature can all be adjusted according to your liking. The look is decidedly chic, with gold and gray walls, elaborate crown moldings, gilded accents and sparkling chandeliers.
  • Post-treatment, dip into a contemporary Jacuzzi or awaken your senses in the Turkish steam bath — and why not? You’ll have it all to yourself.
