The Spa at Ashford Castle

A modern oasis in a majestic Irish castle

Housed in a 13th-century stone palace, The Spa at Ashford Castle is a modern oasis designed to pamper you like royalty. From the plush throne-inspired manicure and pedicure stations to the shimmering bronze accents and white coral chandeliers of the serene indoor pool area, no luxe detail has been overlooked.

Inspired by its regal history, this enchanting spa artfully blends Old World techniques with modern technology to whisk you away into a world of bliss. Simple yet elegant treatment rooms feature hand-carved beds and cabinets with lattice designs reminiscent of Celtic knots. Rounded doorways provide a nod to the property’s past, while B Africa oils and crystal therapies bring the pampering into the modern era.

But the true star of this tranquil haven is Lough Corrib. From the cozy couple’s suite to the fitness center, the views of the property’s signature lough (lake) are a breath of fresh air.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • You can’t miss the spectacular mural anchoring The Spa at Ashford Castle’s stunning Relaxation Pool. Crafted by South African artist Jane du Rand, the mural depicts Celtic mythology’s tree of life as well as dozens of animals, flowers and other traditional Celtic designs.
  • The low-lit hammam invites you to relax on a heated stone bed before being gently exfoliated from head to toe. The Spa at Ashford Castle puts a uniquely Irish twist on the classic Middle Eastern treatment by using locally produced, seaweed-based Voya skincare products.
  • Crystal therapy is a signature at this luxury Irish spa. Even if you don’t opt for a crystal-themed treatment, you might notice stones dotting the treatment rooms and even placed under the beds to help positive energy flow through the facility.
  • For the ultimate in full-body relaxation, opt for the 60-minute Ashford Castle Ritual. This five-in-one treatment begins with a warm Elemis massage and frangipani hair mask, followed by a Superfood Pro-Radiance facial with Hydra Gel eye compresses, a therapeutic scalp massage and, finally, a pressure-point foot massage.
  • The Relaxation Pool is not only visually stunning, but truly therapeutic as well thanks to a combination of resistance and seated jets. Wall-to-wall windows flood the space with light without letting in the sometimes-brisk Irish air.

The Facilities

  • Unwind before or after your treatment in the eucalyptus-infused steam room. Thanks to its stone walls, the room helps conduct heat so you can easily sweat out those toxins.
  • Each of the spa’s five treatment rooms has a unique Irish name. Most are named for classical elements such as Uisce (water).
  • In the small fitness center, floor-to-ceiling windows and an on-call personal trainer add a luxurious touch. During the summer, outdoor yoga sessions can also be enjoyed on the castle’s expansive green lawn.
