ila Only Spa at Lotte New York Palace

Serenity in the heart of New York City

The first United States ila Spa opened in Lotte New York Palace, mirroring its sister space in the English countryside, both contemporary wellness hideaways. While rural beauty surrounds the original location, ila Only Spa at Lotte New York Palace spot overlooks the equally stunning St. Patrick's Cathedral.

But even in such an urban environment, you can experience some of that countryside idyll. Services at the Midtown Manhattan spa utilize the same natural products handmade in the Cotswolds by ila, which is Sanskrit for “Mother Earth.” (ila’s skincare line counts celebrities like Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Donna Karan as fans.)

Book a massage in one of the seven treatment rooms. And make time to relax in the marble-lined steam room and lounge areas. There's also a nail salon, fitness center, movement studio and locker rooms to establish ila Spa as a self-care oasis in one of the busiest cities in the world.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Organic, farm-grown ingredients form the crux of the company's mission statement, and each spa service incorporates them. The creams, serums, cleansers and masks use all-natural products with little processing. Many can be purchased in the spa store to take home as well.
  • Each of the seven treatment rooms includes sound healing experiences. The staff employs signature sound bowls to relax you and balance the energy of each space.
  • The Midtown spa includes a fitness center featuring the Technogym Cardio Skill line and strength-training equipment. And for Peloton fans, there's a bike with on-demand programming. With 1,950 square feet of space and a separate movement studio, there's plenty of room to work out before a treatment.
  • Warm woods line the treatment rooms while clean cream linens balance out the space. Single-color mandalas are woven into the bed covers, all with the idea of promoting peace and relaxation inside and out. Peer up toward the ceiling and check out the magnificent gold light fixture, a bright piece of art in the otherwise elegant, minimalist rooms.
  • Visit the 280-square-foot private yoga studio. Request a personal yoga session for yourself or a small group.

The Treatments

  • One of the house specialties is the Mini-Marvels line of 30-minute add-on treatments. Options include a back and shoulder recovery, a scalp massage, an adrenal exhaustion or vitality wrap, reflexology and a CBD massage.
  • Book the HydraFacial, a thorough, high-tech service involving cleansing, exfoliation, extraction and hydration.
  • The Digital Detox facial incorporates Amazonian herbs and minerals meant to help you de-stress and release tension in the head, jaw, neck, eyes, shoulders and hands.
  • The Release and Revive massage uses a special Himalayan crystal scrub to encourage detoxing, aid in digestion, stimulate the lymphatic system and relieve fatigue. Choose from a 60- or 90-minute treatment.
  • State-of-the-art LED light therapy masks target inflammation, acne and reduce wrinkles.
