The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Okinawa

A haven of relaxation on Okinawa
Hidden behind The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa is a mysterious building that offers wellness and relaxation to weary travelers. Home to The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Okinawa, the facility is a must-visit for anyone staying at the luxury hotel.

Even merely stepping into the building relaxes you. The dimly lit corridors and the intoxicating scents of the ingredients used in the treatments wafting in the air will take the weight off your shoulders and lessen your worries.

The spa offers all kinds of Okinawan-style treatments, including massages, manicures and facials. These therapies have been tailored to suite a variety of needs, from expectant mothers to golfers to weary travelers, so everyone is sure to find his or her own piece of tranquility.
Our Inspector's Highlights
  • For luxurious pampering, the spa offers two private suites called Forest and Ocean. These can be reserved for one or two people and include a soaking tub with a forest view, a terrace and a private bathroom.
  • The Okinawa spa is surrounded by a forest, allowing you to feel like a part of nature, detached from the rest of the world while worries just melt away.
  • A uniquely Okinawan experience can be had with the spa's four signature treatments. Using local ingredients like sea salts, local herbs, shells and even pottery, each service — from the detoxifying Yambaru Umikaji body treatment to the Fu-Chi-Bah Scalp massage — aims to help you find balance.
  • During the mild months from April to October, the outdoor pool is available for use with food and beverage service.
Things to Know
  • The fitness center and pool attached to the spa are available for all hotel guests for free.
  • The pool area is available for use between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for kids under the age of 16, which means that the area is child-free in the late afternoon. For those wanting tranquility, after 5 p.m. might be the best time to visit the spa.
  • You can buy a day pass to the spa area, which gives you access to the heat experiences and vitality pools, but no actual treatments. The heat experiences are complementary when you book a spa service.
  • The spa is a mobile-phone- and camera-free zone, offering a quiet environment to unplug for awhile.
The Treatments
  • For a dose of meditation with your treatment, opt for Yambaru Ukusun. Begin with a guided breathing session before enjoying a scalp and back massage and some deep stretching.
  • Okinawans have one of the longest life expectancies in the world, so the Age-Defying Facial might be worth a shot.
  • Enjoy an afternoon of romance when you book the 120-minute Forest treatment. This personalized service takes place in your own private spa suite, including a woods-facing terrace, two-person tub and sauna.
  • Gents can enjoy some curated pampering here with a dedicated menu of services. Try The Men's Massage to indulge in a hot stone rubdown, a facial and a soothing scalp treatment.
The Facilities
  • The luxury spa is located in a separate building next to The Ritz-Carlton hotel. It's connected via an outside bamboo hallway, making it easy to walk there.
  • The spa also houses the hotel's fitness center and an indoor temperature-controlled pool that is open year round for swimming laps or a quick relaxing dip.
  • The heat experience facilities include a Japanese-style plunge pool, a cyprus wood dry sauna, weathered coral stone tile sauna and rain showers.
  • There is a large deck, which is just the place for some post-treatment relaxation overlooking the forest.
