Located at Etéreo, an Auberge Resorts Collection in Kanai, Riviera Maya, Mexico, SANA, an Auberge Spa is an upscale retreat that connects with ancient Mayan beliefs and the region’s natural offerings through luxurious treatments and lush spaces designed for relaxation. Guests are welcomed by a Mayan altar adorned with local flowers and copal, which attract the region’s precious stingless melipona bees. From there, visitors are led into a cavernous relaxation space and water circuit, an homage to the underground limestone cenote system.

The spa features six individual treatment rooms, one couples room and an outdoor relaxation area with a pool and jacuzzi tucked into a jungle garden. Upon exiting, guests can browse a boutique offering Circe products related to the moon, alongside other curated items, and stop by a personalized bracelet bar, where bracelets are made based on birthdates or stones that resonate with visitors. SANA (“to heal” in Spanish) is a sanctuary to relax, feel rejuvenated and leave with the invigorating energy of the Mayan cosmology and the healing touch of expert therapists.

Our Inspector's Highlights

SANA, an Auberge Spa’s water circuit features a sauna, full-body shower, clay room and sound room, offering a complete disconnect before your treatment. Each guest is provided with a large, chocolate-scented soap for cleansing, along with white clay to detoxify the body.
The outdoor relaxation area feels like a secret garden, where you’ll discover healthy snacks, amenities, and both warm and cold pools. Surrounded by the unique architecture, blending local stone and flora, the space feels like a magical escape.
All treatments are customized to suit the guest's needs, whether they are newlyweds, babymooners or visitors simply looking to refresh their skin or unwind their body.
An array of wellness and spiritual experiences are available, including Copal Circles cleansing rituals led by in-house shamans. Guests can also explore the pre-Hispanic calendar reading with a local astrologist or engage in a SANA tarot workshop for a personalized reading of life's teachings. For a more immersive experience, the Mayan Cacao Ceremony opens the heart with a customizable cacao beverage, while breathwork sessions and The Cleanse offer therapeutic journeys for the mind and body.
All treatments incorporate local botanicals and are inspired by the cycles of the moon, with many of the products available for purchase upon exiting the spa.

The Treatments

SANA, an Auberge Spa offers three signature treatments designed to purify and rejuvenate. The Healer is a three-part ritual using Mayan crystals and plant-based smudge smoke, followed by a therapeutic scalp, spine and reflex point massage. The Botanist employs seasonal ingredients for a restorative body exfoliation and detoxifying massage. Private SANA: Pure Souls is an exclusive couple’s experience involving a palo santo exfoliation, a quartz stone massage and a signature facial that concludes with sparkling wine and a stint in a private jacuzzi.
A variety of facial treatments are designed to restore and rejuvenate skin. Highlights include the reparative Elixir Repair Facial, which nourishes with shea butter and ginkgo biloba, and the firming Eternal Lift Facial that improves elasticity.
Targeted body treatments are designed to enhance your body’s natural vitality. The Body Detox drains and wraps to reduce body inflammation while the Body Firming treatment relies on orange, carrot and ginger to improve elasticity. The Soothing After Sun Treatment rehydrates and soothes sun-exposed skin with calendula and malic acid.
A range of massages, including The Flow and Deep Healing (full-body relaxation and tension release) and Radiate & Circulate (improves circulation and slimming), are on the menu. Ancient techniques (the Obsidian & Jade Stone therapeutic massage uses sacred stones) and Mother Nature (essential oils are vital to the Herbal Poultice massage) play important roles in these services, too.
For a more holistic beauty experience, the 120-minute Mindful Manicure & Pedicure combines the the regular SANA nail treatments with a customized guided meditation and essential oils for complete relaxation.
