A Victorian coastal refuge

49 Rooms / 18 Suites

The Ocean House, once a summer home for America’s wealthy in the early 1900s, now welcomes guests year-round to a beautifully renovated Victorian hotel perched atop the marshes in picturesque Watch Hill.

Walking into the hotel will conjure up images found in history books: This is the place were parasols, top hats and trunk luggage once graced the lawns and where championship croquet and moonlight walks on the beach took place daily.

Today’s Ocean House still pulls from its past, with a touch of contemporary style. The 12,000-square-foot OH! Spa is dedicated to relaxation; the indoor saltwater pool overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, and the fitness center features a motion studio as well as cardio and weight machines. The four dining venues at Ocean House serve everything from New England classics like lobster rolls and clam chowder, to farm-to-table concepts in the fine dining room, Coast.

The Rooms

All 49 luxurious guest rooms recently underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, revealing an updated, refreshed look, featuring warm-colored natural woods as well as linen and chenille fabrics to enhance that wonderful coastal New England charm the resort is known for.

The in-room technology received a significant upgrade too, with the addition of brand new state-of-the-art televisions, nightstands with hidden phone and device charging connectivity, and Bluetooth-enabled sound systems.

The rooms also feature a luxurious bed, 400-thread-count embroidered linens, an Anichini throw, foam and 100 percent goose-down pillows, Italian-woven towels, plush bathrobes, marble-accented bathrooms, complimentary refreshments, an in-room iPad for guest requests and high-definition cable television.

The Food

From sophisticated fine dining to casual beach fare, food options abound at Ocean House. At Coast, the Rhode Island resort's fine-dining restaurant, enjoy classically inspired farm-to-table cuisine of the Atlantic Northeast that utilizes traditional native foraging, local produce and seafood. Selections change daily to reflect the freshest ingredients and flavors of the season.

For a more casual meal, try The Bistro and Bar and Lounge. Its menu is a twist on traditional brasserie fare with an emphasis on club specialty items, including grilled meats and sides and a selection of classic bistro entrées and starters.

In the summer months, dine alfresco at Ocean House. The Verandah offers a full raw bar and menu of traditional Rhode Island and New England specialties, including soups, salads and sandwiches.

Seaside Terrace serves a variety of healthy, spa-inspired cuisine and refreshing beverages. Colorful salads, allergy-friendly food options and fresh, health-conscious ingredients grace the menu.

Reserved for hotel guests, Dune Cottage offers a Mediterranean-inflected menu of brick-oven pizzas, salads, sandwiches and grilled skewers. When the sun sets on select Friday evenings, head to Ocean House’s private beach for a lobster boil and barbecue.

The Amenities

As part of the Rhode Island hotel’s Mercedes-Benz program, you have the opportunity to use one of four vehicles without charge. An additional four hotel cars will be used for those who require assisted transportation during their visit.

Other notable amenities include complimentary afternoon refreshments, 24-hour floor valet service, access to Ocean House’s private beach, complimentary daily resort activities ranging from guided yoga to culinary education classes.

And don’t worry about tipping for all of these amenities: Ocean House is a gratuity-free property (excluding the restaurants and bars).
