Because One UN New York used to house apartments, each room in the building proves unique, and spacious compared to other hotels in the city. The style of the rooms leans toward a muted 1970s vibe, with big polka dots on the rugs, grand leather desks, retro lamps, plenty of mirrors and comfortable day beds that are good for lounging around. The idea behind the design is to make you feel like you are in someone’s apartment, and based on how comfortable everything feels, it is on the right track. In the moderate-sized bathroom, you’ll find square-shaped toilets, rain showerheads and, if you happen to be in a suite, a large bathtub.

Among the basic accommodations, choose the Superior Rooms, which are located in the East Tower and have a workspace, coffee maker and a 40-inch HDTV. In the West Tower, the more luxurious of the two, Deluxe Rooms come complete with leather-bound desks, an espresso machine and toiletries by Shanghai Tang. You can also check out a one- or two-bedroom suite, each with a living room, an additional bathroom, and touch-screen operated light and heating panels. The 129 rooms in the West Tower also have high-speed, free Wi-Fi and access to the Skyline Club, a cozy space good for meetings, grabbing a coffee or soda any time, and relaxing with a glass of wine and snacks during the complimentary happy hour. Also, since all the rooms start on the 28th floor, each one has a great view, no matter which direction you are looking. However, if you want the best vantage point possible, request a room on a corner for a stunning skyline vista on each side.
