Not only does chef David Bouley try to visit his diners’ tables during their meal at his eponymous Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star eatery, but he also gifts a number of sumptuous treats throughout the experience. You’ll begin your meal with a seasonal canapé or — a welcome from the chef. During our most recent visit, we were treated to two sumptuous canapés served before the menu is presented. One was a lovely beet puree with a blue cheese foam and walnut crunch, and the other was a quenelle of aligot (think cheesy French mashed potatoes) atop a cracker with a drizzling of truffle sauce. Prior to dessert, your server will bring you a fruity soup (think strawberry-rhubarb) to cleanse the palate, followed by a delicious assortment of petit fours. And, if you’re lucky, you might even receive a take-home treat, like zesty lemon teacakes to enjoy with your morning coffee the following day (though this doesn’t always happen). We promise that Bouley, a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant, will not let you leave looking for a New York slice on the way home.
