Rosewood Little Dix Bay

A secluded Caribbean getaway

Drift away in paradise while taking in 500 acres of Virgin Gorda wilderness at Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands. The surrounding beach is just as serene as the luxury resort, once an eco retreat owned by conservationist Laurance Rockefeller. Throughout the space expect understated refinement in its Caribbean-modern design and crisp, clean lines and natural materials such as wood and stone.

Rosewood Little Dix Bay has 81 accommodations, a culmination of private villas and cottages as well as single rooms, all with a stunning view and easy access to the white-sand beach. You will find plenty to do to while away your days in paradise: drop off the kids at the Rosewood Explorers Club and opt to swim in the two pools, play in the six tennis courts, work out in a state-of-the-art fitness center or practice your poses in the outdoor yoga platform that looks out at 25 miles of the crystal coastline. Among the many activities, be sure to book time to snorkel in the warm sea, indulge in a Caribbean-themed spa treatment and hike along the island's stunning rock formations and nature.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • You can easily step away from the property and get to the half mile of powder-white sand, where the crystalline blue waters of the Caribbean Sea gently lap along the edge. There's a colorful barrier reef nearby, perfect for mid-morning snorkeling or a soothing ride on a kayak, both provided by the British Virgin Islands hotel.
  • Overlooking the Sir Francis Drake Channel, the cliffside Sense, a Rosewood Spa allows you to relax further. Reserve one of the Caribbean-themed treatments such as the Plumeria Crown Healing, which includes a body mask utilizing the flower's unique properties and a full-body and scalp massage.
  • The ocean-view cottages and multi-room villas offer their own separate oasis as well as a patio, unparalleled vistas and access to the beach.
  • Executive chef Francisco Sanabria runs the extensive dining program at the resort and oversees the four on-property restaurants.
  • Expect to be well cared for at this Virgin Gorda hotel. Every guest receives a dedicated butler who will do everything from unpack your luggage to make dinner reservations to shuttle you around the grounds.

The Restaurants

  • Sugar Mill provides casual outside dining and an array of local tapas, fresh seafood and a stellar wine list. Sit along the center raw bar and order the conch chowder, grouper tartare, lobster al ajillo, and many other fresh, flavorful bites.
  • Sip the night away at Rum Room, an open-air lounge with an extensive selection of rums from around the world. Build a flight of aged spirits or order one of the craft cocktails. Though casual, resort chic is the dress code at night.
  • Take in lunch or dinner at Reef House, where dishes such as lentil-quinoa meatballs in spiced chipotle tomato sauce and whole roasted cauliflower with coconut-pistachio sauce and fermented farm vegetables showcase the chef's skill with vegetarian entrées. It's also a great spot for dessert.
  • Eat any meal at the airy Pavilion, a comfortable and casual dining area with sweeping views of the sea. This is the only restaurant where you can have a sit-down breakfast, and with local favorites like salt fish stew and callaloo, roti chicken with pigeon peas, and seafood frittata, you can really get a taste of the Caribbean.
