The Emory

An all-suite hotel with top design credentials
VERIFIED LUXURY
The Emory is London’s first all-suite hotel. Far more spacious than it’s tucked away setting might allude, the hotel rests just steps away from Hyde Park, within the cobbled charm of Old Barrack Yard, that sits between Belgravia and Knightsbridge. The setting is enviable; ideal for exploring the city’s most beautiful landmarks, from the iconic Buckingham Palace to the equally regal boutiques of Chelsea.

The hotel itself is a masterful, glass-clad vision by late architect Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of RSHP. The entrance is a striking departure from tradition, with no front desk or queues for check-in. Instead, guests arrive at a reception pavilion, with an open-air courtyard and a sleek, steel‑and‑glass tower. The intentional lack of a conventional lobby means you are greeted by an immediate sense of calm and privacy, which continues throughout your stay, as everyone is assigned a dedicated Emory guest liaison.

Once inside, a vibrant “Richard Rogers Pink” central staircase and a museum-worthy collection of contemporary art catch the eye. Despite its central, metropolitan setting, the hotel feels like a sanctuary. It’s serene and residential in spirit, yet with sweeping views of Hyde Park that remind you that you’re in the heart of the city.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The 61 apartment-like suites and studios span nine floors, all of them imagined by a global designer, including the likes of Champalimaud, André Fu and Pierre‑Yves Rochon.
  • From booking to departure, every guest is assigned a personal assistant, who manages everything from tailored minibars and unpacking services to in‑suite breakfast orders and airport transfers in electric BMW i7s.
  • Surrenne, the subterranean wellness club, spans four levels of advanced fitness and spa facilities, including a magnesium‑infused lap pool, Tracy Anderson’s first studio outside of the U.S. and plenty of medically oriented, results-driven treatments.
  • Suites feel tranquil, sophisticated and highly residential, with modern tech seamlessly integrated, such as televisions that descend from the ceiling, iPad controls and soundproofing. Aside from the occasional bursts of modern art, spaces are kept relatively minimalist, with swathes of wood, creams and subtle metallic and stone finishes.
  • The Emory Penthouse is so inviting, you may forget there’s a city to explore. The 3,229-square-foot dream has a multi-purpose fitness room equipped with Peloton, yoga mats and stylish PENT. weights, as well as expansive outside terraces with dining areas and lounge seating that are accessed from every room.

The Restaurants

  • The Jean‑Georges Vongerichten-helmed abc kitchens unites his tasty New York trio — abc kitchen, abcV and abc cocina — under one roof at The Emory. Expect seasonal, sustainable, plant‑forward dishes in a rich timber and Rosso Orobico marble setting punctuated by Damien Hirst’s Secret Gardens paintings.
  • Both The Emory Rooftop Bar and The Emory Cigar Merchants occupy two glass pavilions at the top of the building. Reserved primarily for hotel guests, they offer one of the best 360-degree views of London's skyline. The cigar lounge also has hidden ventilation technology that prevents guests smelling of smoke when they leave.
  • The Surrenne Café is part of the spa and, despite being well under ground, the petite space feels light and inspiring. Everything on the menu has been carefully curated with a panel of scientific and nutritional experts, assuring whatever you order provides a nutritional boost.
  • Just next door (and connected through the ground floor) is legendary patisserie Cedric Grolet at The Berkeley, a fellow Maybourne Group hotel that guests can access.
