Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal

Opulence in the heart of Cabo San Lucas
VERIFIED LUXURY
From the moment you enter the torch-lit, private tunnel that leads to the entrance of Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, it’s clear this is a special place. The 119-room property is built directly into the side of Pedregal Mountain, ensuring that every guest enjoys dramatic ocean views.

In honor of the Los Cabos resort's 10th anniversary in 2019, the beachfront retreat debuted a slew of new offerings. Linger longer in ultra-luxe three- and four-bedroom Casa Bella Vistas, outfitted with private plunge pools, butler service and a golf cart; luxuriate in the Waldorf Astoria Spa (try one of the new moon phase-inspired treatments); or simply sip champagne at the recently opened Va Y Viene Beach Bar with your toes in the sand. There's no wrong way to relax at this picture-perfect Baja escape.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The hotel has a plethora of perks, including personal assistants, who can offer everything a standard concierge can, as well as amenities like iPad check-in.
  • A private, guests-only living room, La Estancia, that overlooks the pool. It’s a palapa-shaded area perfect for enjoying a complimentary welcome margarita and reading one of the oversized coffee table books or playing a board game.
  • The biggest inconvenience at this sprawling locale is deciding how you’ll spend your day — by the pool, at the indulgent spa, strolling along the private beach, or some combination thereof.
  • The AlmArte Gift Boutique is far and above most hotel shops, stocking designer names like Melissa Odabash and Tom Ford, as well as a selection of locally made items so you can take the Pedregal experience home.
  • With two signature restaurants — the cliffside El Farallon and the breakfast-and-dinner Don Manuel’s — as well as a pool bar/seafood restaurant Crudo, casual lunch spot Beach Club with Pacific panoramas and a champagne terrace, there’s no need to leave the resort at mealtime.
Things to Know
  • When it comes to shopping, dining and nightlife, one could ask for little more than to be located just minutes from downtown Cabo. Simply stroll through the private tunnel and down the hill to find yourself at the Cabo San Lucas marina, where you’ll enjoy local vendors hawking everything from silver jewelry and local favorite “fire opals” to embroidered dresses, magnets and more.
  • Hotel staff can easily arrange fishing charters or tours at preferred rates, so bypass the vendors promising special “bargains” at the waterfront.
  • Something else not to miss: The resort's proximity to the ocean allows for stunning seasonal views of humpback whales, which cluster around the peninsula.
  • Want to do some serious shopping? It’s a quick stroll to the aptly named Luxury Avenue, which offers high-end stores like Carolina Herrera, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fendi, Cartier and more.
The Rooms
  • Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal’s 113 rooms and suites don’t disappoint — all offer private balconies with plunge pools and dramatic views of the crashing waves over the rocky beach.
  • If you can, opt for one of the beachfront suites (which feature private swimming pools and hammocks) or the corner Estrella Suite, which includes a private gas fireplace on the balcony.
  • Décor feels residential yet comfortable, with neutral tones and pops of color thanks to local Mexican art and gorgeous wood-carved headboards. Here, even the basic rooms are spacious, starting at 856 square feet.
  • Perks include free WiFi, a gratis mini bar, Nespresso machine and edible and drinkable amenities (chips, guac and Coronas, anyone?) delivered daily.
The Restaurants
  • Don Manuel’s, designed to resemble a traditional Mexican hacienda, offers up tried-and-true classics with farm-to-table flair. Let chefs whip up a huevos rancheros breakfast and see standouts at dinnertime from an ever-changing menu.
  • Start your evening at Don Manuel's with a cocktail and ask for the toro tiradito appetizer, a fresh take on a local favorite, as a starter, then order the poblano chile risotto at dinner.
  • At lunch, you can take a seat right at the pool to feast on fresh ceviche (try the sea bass, you won’t regret it) and pair it with a spicy mango margarita.
  • Watch the sun set on El Farrallon’s new champagne terrace, which offers more than 15 varieties of by-the-glass bubbly before sitting down to fresh fish prepared as you like it from a daily-rotating selection of local catches, with sides served family style.
