Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan

A design escape in Milan’s city center
VERIFIED LUXURY
Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel is a Milan charmer that opened in the fall of 2024. A 1950s Rationalist gem designed by Pietro Lingeri that was entirely renovated, Casa Brera hides in a quiet piazza just behind the famed Teatro della Scala. This character-filled property is the perfect Milan address: central yet discreet, just a few steps from the Galleria and Duomo, but blissfully off the tourist path.

Interior designer Patricia Urquiola transformed the 116 rooms, suites and public spaces into a living gallery. Iconic design pieces, luxe materials, geometric patterns and a color palette of gorgeously saturated hues playfully interact with Lingeri’s architectonic legacy. From the ground-level open lounge to the rooftop bar, every detail pays tribute to Italy’s rich design legacy and Milan’s status as the global capital of style and craftsmanship. In short, it’s exactly the kind of aesthetic immersion you want for a weekend in Milan.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Casa Brera’s 15 suites dial up the design drama, especially the Brera Suite, where a bold blue semicircular sofa faces sweeping views of the 1,300-square-foot rooftop terrace. In the Presidential Milanese Suite, twin terraces bring the city to your doorstep.
  • Respected chef Andrea Berton leads both Scena, a refined showcase of regional Italian cuisine, and Etereo, a rooftop seafood spot where the real showstopper isn’t the menu, but the sweeping view stretching from the Duomo’s spires to the towers of CityLife. Still, Casa Brera’s best kept nibble may be Odachi, an intimate ode to omakase by chef Haruo Ichikawa.
  • Milan is renowned for its aperitivo, the chic afternoon ritual of cocktails and curated bites, and at Casa Brera’s Living, it takes on a whole new dimension. Livingis generally a scene any afternoon, but now this Casa Brera lounge is the heart of The Art of Aperitivo – Dialogues on Art, weekly curated conversations with artists, curators and designers that celebrate the city’s creative scene.
  • Your pets are welcome at the Milan hotel. At Casa Brera, style and companionship go hand in paw, which is why one impeccably behaved pet (up to 55 pounds) is welcome per room. After all, there’s nothing quite like exploring Milan’s fashionable streets side by side with your four-legged companion.
  • When it comes to location, it doesn’t get cooler than Brera, Milan’s artistic and bohemian soul. This neighborhood is iconic with its cobblestone lanes, contemporary art galleries, alfresco cafés and buzzing restaurants. It’s the crossroads where vintage treasures meet high fashion, and where every corner reveals another charming boutique or hidden courtyard.

Things to Know

  • Etereo also boasts Milan’s only outdoor rooftop pool, and some of the most knowledgeable bartenders in the city.
  • The surrounding Brera neighborhood is Milan’s historic creative center, most notable during April’s Salone del Mobile. Additionally, every third Sunday of the month, the niche neighborhood hosts an open-air antique market. Cutting through Brera is Via Montenapoleone, one of the world’s most renowned fashion streets.
  • The luxury hotel's team of stylish concierges has a direct line to anything you want — personal shoppers, behind-the-scenes gallery visits and tickets to La Scala are easy tasks for the group to handle.
