Magna Pars, l’ Hotel à Parfum

Milan's sensory stay

Scents reignite memories. They bring long-gone feelings back to life and are effortless storytellers. Magna Pars, l’ Hotel à Parfum, built on the foundations of an old perfume factory, knows this well enough to make scent the official guide through a journey of discovery into its past filled with beauty, heritage, passion and Italian excellence.

In 2013, the Martone family converted its factory to Magna Pars, the first “hotel à parfum” in the world. Located in the buzzing Tortona design district in Milan, the property is a quiet hidden gem of only 60 elegant suites, many facing the peaceful inner garden where fragrant trees and bushes grow year-round. Fragrance infuses everything from your room to the cocktails at this one-of-a-kind hotel.

A penchant for beauty and thorough attention to detail have always been distinctive Martone family traits, providing the keys to success as perfume makers and luxury innkeepers.
Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The property is a brilliant mix of heritage and innovation. Artfully designed by architects Luciano Maria Colombo, Paola Benelli and Roberto Murgia, the chic boutique hotel flawlessly blends the old factory walls with contemporary elements in polished steel, aluminum and glass.
  • Find rest and relaxation among the delicately scented shrubs flourishing in the courtyard, the secret of Magna Pars’ evergreen beauty. While maples, magnolia, azaleas and roses charmingly release their floral notes, three liquidambar trees paint the garden gold.
  • The Library Hall is a luminous space filled with authentic masterpieces of world literature, dating back between the 18th and 20th centuries. Take a seat and let the scent of orange blossoms pleasantly embellish your reading.
  • Magna Pars is also home to an intimate, tranquil spa where you can experience the benefits of aromatherapy while indulging in a rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage.
  • Discover the hotel’s motto, “Essence of living,” by having your own tailor-made fragrance skillfully crafted at LabSolue, the Perfume Laboratory where the property’s history is kept alive.

Things to Know

  • Accessible exclusively to guests of the Milan hotel, the cozy spa only has room for two. Make sure to book at least one month in advance to secure your spot.
  • A qualified yoga instructor is available upon request to enhance your stay.
  • Tucked away on Via Forcella, the property’s quiet locale makes for a respite from the lively Via Tortona and historic Porta Genova Station just around the corner.

The Rooms

  • Named after the fragrances that make up the Martone family’s olfactory library, the sophisticated suites all face the internal garden, from which they capture light and inspiration.
  • Brushed oak wood floors, refined leather couches and original paintings by young artists from Brera Academy make each accommodation a luxurious home away from home and an authentic celebration of Italian style.
  • All suites are equipped with the evocative Aqua Adornationis amenities kit, a collection designed for the luxury hotel by Giorgia Martone and available for purchase at LabSolue.
  • Every whitewashed suite comes with a living room area with Italian furniture and a tub in the spacious bathroom.

The Restaurants

  • Inspired by the reddish, dark amber tones of its namesake tree, Liquidambar is a chic and comfortable place where you can lounge while sipping scented signature cocktails.
  • The open-plan cellar, featuring more than 600 bottles, gloriously represents the finest Italian wines. The majestic solid wood dining table gives the space a romantic, vintage feel.
  • At Da Noi In, the chef will treat you to a cuisine that successfully pairs tradition with innovation. The grouper carpaccio, served with citrus and toasted almonds, will immediately transform your garden table into a terrace facing the Sicilian sunset.
