As you make your way to The Meritage Resort and Spa just outside the town of Napa, you’ll get a glimpse of the surrounding hills covered with vineyards, and most notably, the town's iconic Grape Crusher statue. The Meritage Resort creates a sense of its place in wine country that starts with elaborate metal gates out front with cutouts of a man working an old-fashioned wine press.

The resort spreads its 322 rooms between two buildings that offer modern amenities and soothing neutral color schemes. You could spend all your time on the property, since there’s a café offering breakfast and lunch; an ultra-lounge where you can enjoy a burger and cocktail as well as a game of pool or bowling; and a fine-dining restaurant called Siena that serves Italian-influenced fare in the evening.

The Napa hotel features the Trinitas Cellars tasting room in its Estate Cave, where you can sample wines or enjoy a wine-and-chocolate pairing.

By contrast, Crush Ultra Lounge, a causal restaurant and bar with a six-lane bowling alley, has a retro-modern vibe with art glass pendant lights and a bright cobalt-blue bar top.
Unwind in the serenity of the 22,000 square foot Estate Cave – 40 feet underground – where Spa Terra soothes with natural stone and copper accents, blended with old-world Florentine architecture and furnishings.
The Napa resort sports two gorgeous outdoor pools—one adults only venue and a family-friendly choice—and three whirlpools for ultimate relaxation.

Things to Know

One of the more unusual features of the Napa hotel’s décor is the cave that's hidden under nine acres of hillside vineyards and houses a tasting room and the resort’s spa.
While the resort is a destination in itself, they do offer shuttle service to downtown Napa so you can experience the city’s restaurants, tasting rooms and art galleries.
The Meritage Resort & Spa will make your furry friend feel at home with dog-friendly amenities like plush beds, water bowls and a special amenity bag full of delicious treats.

The Rooms

The resort features 322 guest rooms and suites divided between two buildings with exteriors painted in warm tones that evoke Tuscany.
The guest rooms share a neutral color scheme of beige, rust and cream and include balconies or patios.
All rooms are equipped with flat-screen televisions, DVD players, a pair of plush robes, coffee makers and mini-refrigerators (which will soon be replaced with mini-bars).
The tiled bath suites are spacious and offer amenities by Antica Farmacista.

The Restaurants

Located in the main building is the signature restaurant Siena, which specializes in Italian fare.
Start your dinner at Siena with a glass of prosecco and then indulge in steamed black mussels with ham hock and collard greens, pappardelle with veal Bolognese sauce or lamb osso bucco with roasted butternut squash and rainbow chard.
Blend is a good choice for a casual breakfast or lunch with its menu of coffee drinks, white hot chocolate, pastries and steel-cut oatmeal in the morning or cobb salads, turkey panini and wraps at midday.
If you’re looking for a festive place to have a meal or a martini, head to Crush Ultra Lounge. The beverage menu features an impressive international collection of wines, beers and spirits which complement casual dishes like fish and chips, burgers and entrée salads, such as one with spicy seared ahi tuna.
