Archer Hotel New York

Midtown Manhattan's boutique jewel
VERIFIED LUXURY
Archer Hotel New York mixes the creative artsy spirit of New York's Garment District with energetic, centrally located Midtown Manhattan. The Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel’s 180 rooms can be found right in the heart of the city, just blocks from Bryant Park, Times Square and the Theater District.

Designer Glen Coben cleverly gave this space an elegant, industrial twist that tips a hat to its history in the area. From the moment you enter through the brick-and-glass facade, hints of the neighborhood's past shines in the details (chesterfield sofas, subway-tiled bathrooms).

When you first walk in, it might surprise you that Archer is a hotel at all; the lobby opens to AVA Social, a lounge-worthy gastropub with eclectic food and a head-turning central bar. But look to the left and you will find a blue leather tufted counter staffed with smiling hosts eager to check you in and show you to your snug and fashionable room.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Archer Hotel New York is only blocks from some of the most popular destinations in the city. From there, you can walk to Times Square, Grand Central Station or Rockefeller Center.
  • The glass-fronted building contains 22 floors in the heart of Midtown, and its views of the iconic Empire State Building are stunning. (For exclusive vistas, book an Empire-view room.)
  • Archer boasts an amazing collection of artwork. All the paintings and photographs on the lobby walls and in the guest rooms were curated from local artists. That includes a patio dress sculpture by Thea Lanzisero (another nod to the hotel's Garment District history).
  • Thoughtful design details make the Archer experience special, from stylish "blue sky" umbrellas by the Museum of Modern Art in each room to Malin+Goetz toiletries.
  • Perched on the 22nd floor, the glamorous Spyglass rooftop bar puts you up close to skyline icons like the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.

Things to Know

  • Archer offers a wide selection of complimentary goodies. Expect sea salt caramels and bottles of water at arrival and daily turndown service complete with locally sourced surprises.
  • Everywhere you go in this chic hotel, there is a gratis wireless connection, whether you are in your room, working in the lobby or enjoying a cocktail at the rooftop bar.
  • If you bring children along, ask at the front desk to peek into the Kid in Archer box, a secret treat for the younger guests. Inside, kids will see old-fashioned toys and each gets to choose one to take home.

The Rooms

  • All accommodations come with floor-to-ceiling windows. The subway-tiled bathroom is spacious enough for a comfortable shower and a well-lit vanity with a make-up mirror.
  • Beds are topped with a Eurotop mattress, and the specially-made bed frames offer luggage storage and drawers to maximize storage space in the Manhattan-sized rooms (read: cozy but not cramped).
  • Inside the closets are Frette robes and slippers, the stylish MoMA umbrellas and laptop safes. Every room also gets a Nespresso machine.

The Restaurant
  • AVA Social is a chic new restaurant/lounge concept that serves eclectic bar food mixed with new American favorites. Expect dishes such as scallops on a stick, housemade dips, double smash burger and bucatini Bolognese to fill the menu.
