Nômade Tulum

A holistic approach to luxury
VERIFIED LUXURY

Somewhere at the intersection of utopia and undisturbed nature rests Nômade Tulum. The resort has cultivated quite the reputation with escape-hunting celebs and eco-conscious tourists visiting Mexico. But even if the breathtaking property didn’t have 99 airy rooms, tents and treehouses — all uniquely decorated — scattered about the jungle-like landscape, it would still be considered an elevated getaway simply for its proximity to the Caribbean’s white sands.

But here, waterfront sunrises are complemented by a curated menu of wellness activities ranging from biodynamic breathwork to Booty Reboot. Lazy afternoons by your private pool are followed by spreads of locally sourced seafood. Nômade Tulum is where you disconnect from the outside by reconnecting within.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Nômade Tulum radiates bohemian chic. Feel the earth under your feet as you check-in at the open-air reception area. Soft candles and tiki torches line walkways made of sand and worn wood beams. Dreamcatchers and hammocks hang wherever they can. A subtle serenity makes all the statements here.
  • While the neutral-toned rooms and suites are stunning, it’s the 41 tents and treehouses that literally set the resort’s accommodations bar so high. The former are new, Moroccan-inspired spaces that come fully furnished, equipped with air conditioning and have gorgeous outdoor areas. The treehouses are brilliantly designed wood structures that soar above the property.
  • Yoga enthusiasts and vacationers who long for mental breaks also come to Nômade Tulum for the nearby Yäan Healing Sanctuary. Founded by the late Dr. Bobby Klein, the center focuses on whole-body care. For the physical temple, there are massage treatments that employ indigenous ingredients and procedures. For the mind, spiritual healers promote meditation classes and breathing sessions. And for something that stimulates both, the purifying Moon Temazcal Ceremonies occur roughly twice a month.
  • The Tulum hotel offers wellness in the form of a weekly calendar full of programming. Practice your poses in the Yoga Shala, count your blessings in the Gratitude Tent and learn from different teachers and practitioners during Nest Talks.
  • You can feel good about staying at this eco-friendly hotel. Nômade Tulum is carbon neutral. It offsets CO2 through a reforestation program that benefits rural communities in Chiapas and mitigates climate change.

The Restaurants

  • The views and the seafood are the stars at the beachfront La Popular. But while fish tacos, shrimp burgers, sustainably caught snapper are what lure you to the restaurant, it’s drinks such as the Ixtubtun (spinach, pineapple, coconut water, jalapeño and parsley) and Chamomile Herb Tonic (gin, chamomile, strawberry jelly, tarragon and tonic water) that keep you there.
  • No one’s a stranger at Macondo, the boutique hotel’s open-air eatery, because communal tables are the norm. Nibble alongside new friends on vegetable-topped eggs and açai bowls before trying Middle Eastern flavors at lunch (carrot falafel, watermelon salad) and dinner (lamb tajine, chicken kebabs).
  • Live entertainment is proudly prepared on both restaurants’ menus. In fact, a rotating roster of vocalists and instrumentalists ensures that meals at Macondo and La Popular are memorable for the ears as well as the taste buds.
