Triple Creek Ranch

Luxurious adventure in the Montana Rockies
VERIFIED LUXURY
Located in the Bitterroot Mountain range of the Montana Rockies, Triple Creek Ranch is the luxurious surprise at the end of a 90-minute scenic drive from Missoula. It offers that rare combination of rustic elegance and personal service in an untamed corner of Montana known for wild adventure.

Sitting on 600 acres near the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness, Triple Creek Ranch is secluded in a forest at a 4,600-foot elevation. Three creeks tumble through the property, hence the name, providing a trilling accompaniment to a relaxing night’s sleep.

The personal touch extends to special outdoor events created and hosted by owners Craig and Barbara Barrett. Craig leads the four-day fly-fishing celebrations, Skwala Hatch and Steelhead Fly Fishing, while Barbara oversees two women’s horse-riding events, the Women’s Rocky Mountain Rendezvous and Klicks for Chicks, a charity endurance ride.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • If you’ve ever wanted to learn to fly fish, this is the place. An Orvis-endorsed fly-fishing lodge, Triple Creek Ranch provides complimentary fly-casting clinics, equipment included.
  • In the winter, dog sledding, snowshoeing, skijoring (where a skier is pulled by a rider on a horse) and cross-country skiing are just a few of the experiences that add to the fun.
  • Ending the day with a gourmet meal followed by a dip in your cabin’s hot tub is true luxury in the Montana Rockies.
  • Upon arrival at the adult-only, all-inclusive ranch, you are given a tour of the main lodge, including the gleaming kitchen of chef Jacob Leatherman.
  • Meet with the concierge upon arrival in the activities lounge to confirm the itinerary that’s been scheduled or to book additional onsite or off-site adventures (more on those below).
Things to Know
  • You can ride horses on property, but here you also get access to their sister property the CB Ranch with 26,000 acres for roaming on horseback.
  • Guided fishing trips on the Bitterroot, Salmon and Selway rivers are available at an additional cost.
  • This rustic retreat is for adults-only, offering the perfect romantic getaway rather than a family-friendly destination.
The Rooms
  • Twenty-three custom log cabins are scattered throughout the luxury ranch.
  • Sizes vary from a cozy honeymoon cottage to the ultimate retreat — the three-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot Ponderosa cabin with an open kitchen and dining space, vaulted ceilings and a tiered deck that looks out over its own private trout pond.
  • If you opt for one of the remote cabins, don’t worry about trekking to the lodge for dinner; you’ll get a golf cart to shuttle yourself around.
  • No matter which cabin you choose, it will have original Western art, wood-burning fireplaces, a private or nearby hot tub and Molton Brown toiletries.
The Restaurants
  • Enjoy internationally influenced fare with local ingredients, such as pheasant confit and field greens with a pear and white truffle vinaigrette, in the candlelit dining room.
  • The evening meal is a relaxed four-course affair that includes house wines.
  • Foodies will want to reserve the secluded chef’s table. There, executive chef Jacob Leatherman creates a seven-course dining experience for up to six guests with premium wine pairings.
  • After dinner, gather around the outdoor firepit for a nightcap and a view of Montana’s big sky.
