The Spa at Sea Island

The Spa at Sea Island focuses on customization, with 26 treatment rooms dedicated to an extensive menu of offerings. Spa guides design an experience for guests that may include anything from nutritional consultations to body work, baths, wraps and energy treatments. Turkish and Japanese baths personify the spa's simple approach, with the signature bathing ritual with a seven-step infusion of ginger grass and cherry blossom rice body polishes.

Perhaps the most unique interior design feature at this luxury spa is its sunny garden atrium, a 2.5-story outdoors-like oasis littered with trees — including a tall embalmed olive tree — plants and filled with the sound of running “creek” water. Along the bubbling brook, step onto the floor made of large, smooth stones, where you can sink into a cushy hunter-green armchair and ottoman to squeeze some reading in while waiting for your therapist.
Our Inspector's Highlights
• A sampling of light refreshments are available in the locker rooms, should you need a little energy boost or calming treat to mellow out before your treatments. Choose from a number of teas, energy bars, fruit, bottled water and fruit-infused water.

• Our favorite spot is the two-story Olympic-sized indoor pool, from which you’ll get sweeping views of the outdoor gardens and labyrinth through towering floor-to-ceiling windows.

• Maintaining your new look and feel will be a breeze. The convenient retail shop has all of the products used during your massage, facial, wrap or scrub available to take home.

• The gym is just as luxurious as the spa itself. Choose from a number of exciting workout options such as yoga and Pilates classes, squash courts, water aerobics, weight training and even ballroom dancing.

• A special KidSpa program for spa goers ages 8 to 15 promotes healthy skin care and includes kid-friendly massages, sports and nature hikes.
Things to Know
• Depending on the type of treatment you’d like — and how flexible your schedule is — the concierge can do their best to book you a last-minute treatment at the glamourous spa.

• Because of the spa’s popularity amongst luxury travelers, as well as those staying at Sea Island Resorts, we highly recommend booking your treatments at least a week in advance to ensure you’ll have the ultimate spa experience you’ve always dreamed of.

• Should an unforeseen circumstance or scheduling conflict come up during your reserved appointment time, the lush spa requires no less than twenty-four hours advance notice.

• While it might be difficult to pry your hands from that trusty iPhone or BlackBerry for a day (or even a couple of hours), it’s required that you to adhere to the strict “no cell phone policy” during your day of treatments.

• Since the coastal spa wants maintain a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere, kids under the age of eight are not permitted
The Treatments
• Beyond the actual massage itself, of course, the best thing about the Sea Island Essential Massage is that you’ll work with your therapist to customize the exact technique you want. Simply tell him your preferences and problem areas and let him take care of the rest.

• In keeping with the customization theme, the Sea Island Essential Facial is among the most popular treatments at the island spa. Aside from treating problem areas and leaving your face glowing, you’ll be treated to a relaxing facial massage.

• You’ll drift off into full relaxation mode during the 90-minute White Oak Soak and Massage as you first sink into a massive soaking tub steeped with eucalyptus and white oak, then get kneaded from head to toe with a soothing massage.

• Spice of Life will energize your mind, body and spirit with a 120-minute polish, soak, massage and scrub that’s sure to put a little pep in your step. This treatment is infused with the invigorating scents of neroli, cardamom, amber and coffee.

• A far cry from your traditional stone massage, Stone & Scent Concerto combine the techniques of Swedish massage with warm stones and your choice of aromatherapy.
The Facilities
• You’ll enjoy a number of excellent and tranquil wet areas throughout the 65,000-square-foot space of the Mediterranean-inspired spa.

• Before or after your treatment, take a dip in the heated indoor pool or soak in a mineral-salt bath.

• An outdoor whirlpool is hidden in the corner of the garden near an ivy-covered wall.

• Kick back in the sauna or steam room in the Sea Island spa’s spacious locker room.

• There’s also a giant waterfall that splashes down into the glitzy spa’s beautiful white-pillared water atrium — and if you’d like, you can sit right underneath it.
